Cabin Air Filter

Hello everybody,

I need to change the cabin air filter (it smells really badly) but at Autozone they told me that they don't carry it - despite several brands showing up in the system. Do you know which is the correct one for the Grand Prix SE 2000? As the Chevy Monte Carlo was also a W body, does that one fit? Where is it located in the GP, inside the engine compartment?

Thanks,

djstifft

Re: Cabin Air Filter

The cabin air filter for a '97 - '04 Buick Regal fits perfectly. Located under the plastic cowling on the passenger side of the HVAC intake.

Re: Cabin Air Filter

On that note... I've got the infamous leak under this same cowling that allows water to run under the carpet on the passenger side (it's also rusted my blower motor over time!). I know about the silicone fix, but, was unable to get my wipers off last time I tried.

It looks like I need something along the lines of a steering wheel or hub puller (albeit much smaller) to get those suckers off. Any ideas?

Many thanks for your help, the filter fits perfectly...don't know why for the Pontiac they make such a birth out of it...the old one was really dirty...just another question: the filter has a soft side and a harder one. On the original, the soft side was up, so I installed it that way. However, to repeal the intake of moist water, shouldn't the hard side be up?

Thanks,

Well, at least to change the filter I did not need to get the whipers off, as the plastic was flexible enough. Just needed to get some screws out and I could lift the cowling. However, I don't know if this will help you, normally the whipers have a screw at the basis that you should get off with a wrench. If not, try some WD40.
