I have a 94 Ranger,the other day I noticed that gas drips on the ground when filling up the truck, when I got home I crawled under truck and found that the hose is split where it connects nipple on the inside of the bed wall.
I read a couple of other threads for the same problem and evidently you can't purchase the hose by itself, or is very expensive and is only available through a Ford dealership, (what a racket!)

Does anyone know what the ID of the hose is, it looks like about 1 3/4" or 2", I'm gonna try to get a peice of hose from my local Parker distrubitor and try to find some sort of coupler so I can rreplace the bad portion of hose.

If anyone has a real good solution to repair this, I'd love to hear what it is.

I had to drop a Ranger tank on a '94 last fall. When I tried to reinstall the tank and reuse the old hose, the hose assembly was so stiff with age that I never could get the thing back in place. I also bought some hose material (there's an inner hose also ... don't remember either diameter) ... I never had any luck with my experiment ... couldn't get it in place (working alone).

I ended up buying a new one from the dealer. Yep, it was pricey ... but the new hose "fell" into place.

I'm trying to avoid the pricey opeion if possible. My fuel gauge sending unit is bad also, when I find a solulion for the filler tube I'll probably replace the fuel pump/sending unit at the same time because I will have to drop the tank anyway. I'm afraid that if I drop the tank now without a repair for the filler tube that I won't be able to get it back together and will have no choice but pay the ridiculous amount for a simple hose.

goto a junk yard buy it there got mine (92 ranger xcab 4x4) for 25 dollars take your tools with ya.

I finally got a chance to pull the bed off of my truck and removed the filler tube. I found that the hose had become disconnected at the spout end. The vent hose was still connected so I could see that the inner filler tube wasn't making connection. I reconnected it and reinstalled.

While I had the bed off, I removed the fuel pump from the tank to check out my sending unit problem. The float was full of gas and began to leak gas slowly., I couldn's see exactly where the pin hole was and even if I had, I'm not sure how to repair.

Is there a way to repair these floats, mine is made of brass or copper. Can they be bought seperately or do you have to buy the entire pumjp assy.

Any info would be appreciated.

A radiator shop would probably be able to solder-up the float you now have.
