Re: 1998 Taurus, Remove center console?

Here you go; I would recommend getting some type of service manual, Chilton or other to help out with diagrams:

Removal

1. Remove beverage holder by carefully unsnapping front portion using a flat-blade screwdriver. Grasp beverage holder and unsnap from console panel (045A36).

2. Open ash receptacle (30702) and move gearshift lever (7210) to 1 position.

3. Grasp console top panel (044D90) and pull rearward to unsnap from console center finish panel. Remove electrical connectors from cigar lighter socket and retainer (15055) and lamp assembly.

4. Remove two screws retaining console finish panel (04567) to console panel and remove console finish panel.

5. Remove two screws retaining console panel to console center finish panel.

6. Pull two carpet-covered kick panels at lower front of console panel to disengage clips from bracket.

7. Remove four bolts retaining console panel to floor mounting bracket.

8. Remove two bolts retaining console panel to rear bracket.

9. Remove console panel from vehicle.

Installation

1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.

2. Tighten side mounting bolts to 9-12 Nm (80-106 lb-in).

3. Tighten top rear console finish panel retaining screws to 0.9-1.2 Nm (8-10 lb-in).

Did you get any reponse to this? I have a 1999 Taurus and need to remove console to fix console top hinge that has come loose from its mounts to the console box. I've taken visible screws out but still can't remove bin from console...may have to remove shifter bezel first. if you have any info on this i'd appreciate any tips you may have.
Thanks
