Can anyone help me here?
you guys are so good at answering questions, just wondering if any of you knew the one i posted at the link below. My dad bought the ranger as a fix up and sell. I know, I Know, A ford, I gave him crap about that one too, but the ranger forum guy's arent very helpfull...... yet. I have looked it up on mitchell ondemand 5, and it says its located above the oil sender, but its not, i found that (verified by unplugging and oil pressure guage stopped showing pressure) If you have any input, that would be great. Either post here or there. Thanks again.

My '89 Mustang's 2.3 it was right in the thermostat housing...is that the one you unplugged? Did you try grounding the wire to the motor and see if the temp guage jumps up?
I checked AutoZone's component locator, that's the same place it said for that Ranger, and it said there is no Engine Temp Sensor, only the CTS in the thermostat, but you know, AZ...

ha, i am so unfamiliar with that motor, i'll have to look for the thermostat. The one i unplugged had 2 wires going to it, and was in i believe a coolant line going to the heater core. It was close to the motor. I have since went to advance and bought a coolant temp sender, the guy there assured me that there was only one for that motor. When i questioned it, he looked a little deeper, and found another one that has a one wire hookup, but i still cant find it. I'll look by the thermostat after a quick trip to the junkyard. Thanks jeff!

Are you sure it was a coolant line...it almost sounds like the low pressure sensor for the A/C system...but that wouldn't set a check engine light...not sure what you're looking at..

yes, it was a coolant line, the first ect sensor the parts guy brought out was that one. then he found a "temp sender" which he sold to me. i actuallu just found it bolted to the back of the head, only visable from underneath. zit had one wire doing to it, so i unhooked it, and jumped that wire t ground and the guage showed hot, confirming the fault in that circuit is the temp sender. I have changed it and temp gauge works fine now. thanks again jeff
