RrABS and BRAKE light illuminated tonightsurferfletch 07-09-2006, 10:45 PM They came on for 30 seconds or so, then disappeared. Came on again. They went off as I pulled in the driveway. I left it running as I moved another vehicle. When I opened the door it came on again. I put some accessories on and they went away again. During rainy season I've had the RrABS show up before. It would just shut off when I turned off and restarted. I'm hoping it's just some moisture in the sensor. I'm hoping it's not my several months old NAPA alternator. If it was the alt I would expect the battery light, too. I have to tighten the alt belt tomorrow because it's squealing a little on startup. I'll actually replace the belt. I'll see how it behaves tomorrow... Ramblin Fever 07-10-2006, 01:20 AM My RrABS and Brake lights have been lit for ummm.......say 3yrs now  That gosh darn RrABS sensor on mine is located on top of the rear axle, and I can't help it :crying: everytime I go down a dirt road (a LOT) for some odd reason I just have a habit of making sure a rock hits that stupid sensor :banghead: and wipes it out. I've replaced that idiotic located sensor 5 times in 9yrs, I'm NOT replacing it again  Those lights can just stay on  But, yes, since your's are going on and off, I'll give you 2 guesses but you're only gonna need one :cwm27: Hopefully the belt's just slipping. I've got my fingers crossed for you. surferfletch 07-10-2006, 02:11 PM I'm leaning more toward that sensor and away from the alt. Thanks for the insight! highlandlake 07-10-2006, 04:04 PM Replacing the sensor didn't help me. So I went on E-Bay and purchased a used ABS control module for $30 plus shipping I think. On my '97 it is located under the passenger seat carpet. The seat has to be removed, and the carpet sliced to get it out. No special tools needed, and you actually find some interesting things under the seat. (money, french fries, wife's lipstick, transfer station permit, etc) I have not had a single problem since replacing the module. Theres a thread or two about this in the last year. Tom surferfletch 07-10-2006, 09:49 PM Thanks for the input. It was dry here today and the lights have stayed off... hshawn31 07-14-2006, 09:12 PM Hey surfertech, mine did the same thing yesterday and today. Funny thing is: it was raining both days. I think maybe moisture is getting onto the sensor. The rodeo manual says that your supposed to stop immediately and turn off the rodeo and then turn it back on to reset the sensor. If it stays on your suppposed to have the brakes serviced. I have done this "reset" and it does stay off...until i go through a puddle. So this makes me believe that it is water getting on the sensor. I HOPE!!! :uhoh: surferfletch 07-14-2006, 10:55 PM Yup. Dry here last 2 days. I think I read of a way to open up the sensor and use some sealant to keep the moisture out? surferfletch 08-05-2006, 08:29 PM Bump for another poster with this problem... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
