Civic hatch VS T/A WS-6

Well, haven't posted a race here in forever. In fact, this race is something I saw out on the streets while putting around in my SUV. I usually get in a street race everyday almost, but don't really care to post any of it, win or lose. But, this race made me so proud of Honda, I have to post this one.

So...

I was driving around in my 1999 Isuzu Rodeo the other night on my way to go see Signs(good movie, BTW), with a friend, and we got next to this late-model silver Trans-AM WS-6(said it right on the back). The T/A was to my left, with a blazer to my right, and a black '89-'91 Civic hatchback to the right of the Blazer. Well, the T/A driver decides to gun it when the light turned green(LOUD), and take off fast. I think he was trying to bait the Civic who took off moderately fast because his and the Blazer's lane merged into one. Well, the Civic got the hint from the T/A, who at this time slowed down(enough so that we were about 20 yards behind him when the race started) and was just revving his burly V8 while the Civic got next to him...then they both take off!

The crazy part about this race was that the Civic got the jump on the T/A by about a car, and not only held it, but increased it a bit...as they both turned into tiny red lights in the distance...My estimate was they both dipped into the hundreds easy in the race. Anyways, I was gonna get next to the Civic and ask what kind of mods he had, but he busted a turn at the light where the T/A was stopped...apparently he just took time off his driving schedule to spank some butt...

I got next to the T/A and saw it was a couple of young punks driving it...

The Civic was my style...all black with stock steel rims painted black, no stickers, no wings, just plain bad-ass looking. Big exhaust, but not too loud...

To be honest...I didn't think the Civic had a chance.

if my kid ever steals my Nova he best not return with a story of how some guy kicked his ass all up and down the boulevard!

Oh the shame! :hehehe:

probally a turbo'd civic vs kids who dont know how to work a stick....because even a turbo'd civic shouldnt have a chance against a T/A unless its got some serous work

course, it coulda been a firebird with bagdges

eatherway, good story, its always good to hear young punks getting burned (i'm young, but I try to be cool to everyone outside of flaming poons like that)

hard to say about it having some major work. a friend of mine ran a 13.0@112 at speed world in phoenix in a gsr on street tires, not 100% sure on the trap, but he is running on stock internals, without being tuned for that altitutude, and not running the nitrous, i'm sure if track conditions were a little better, not 106 degrees, he could have pulled out 12's, maybe gotten close to 11's with the nitrous and slicks, or broken something with the nitrous and slicks, hehehehe. not to bad for a car that is running full interior, ac, everything, and drove 8 hours to get there. sorry for going off track, but anyways, the best runs in stock ws6 is 12.9's, but with traps around 100, so a well tuned turbo setup on a hatch like that with a b16/b18 swap, and it should be relatively easy.

Sounds like fun. There is a bone stock looking neon that runs low 12s at the local drag strip. It even still has those cheap stock plastic hubcaps on it. So, I guess anything is possible. My money would be on the T/A fumbling something though. How do you know that the T/A did not pull ahead later on? you said their tail lights disapeared in the distance?

That's because they got real small in a hurry, but were still within viewing distance, especially with the tall street lights over both cars(going west on Bell Rd. just past 51st Av., for everybody that's been to the area). Also, I can see the Civic's tailight get smaller, quicker in perspective.

It might have been just a regular T/A with badges, but it at least had a LOUD V8. It had dual exhausts of the oval-shaped variety, and a raised silver-and-red WS-6 decal on the right hand trunk area. Blackbird01, where ya at when we need ya? Anyways, the T/A was loud enough to drown out the Civic's exhaust note.

flowmaster makes a catback system for firebird v-6's which makes it louder than many v-8's, i've been fooled by it before, and wondered how I was taking out a trans am :hehe:

it was a ws6, no need to analyze it, just let it be. hell, my buddy was in phx two weeks ago with an 11 second talon that looks near stock except for some gold bbs wheels, so you never know what is roaming the streets
