Timing Belt Parts and Bad Auto Parts Staff

So I go to Napa and Advance Auto Parts to get parts for my timing belt change on my '98 Rodeo 3.2, and this is the list I give them:

1. Timing Belt Components Kit (Off of AAP's website) for all the other tensioners - not in stock
2. Timing Cover Gasket - Said does not list, only in "gasket set" but still not sure, but they don't know what comes in the set as I was looking for cam seal and crank seal; gasket set not in stock
3. Water Pump - not in stock
4. Main tensioner - not in stock

The only thing I was able to buy was antifreeze for the changeout.... I live in Tampa and drive a VERY COMMON SUV - you would think someone between all the NAPA AND AAP stores in town would stock these parts!!!!!

Any suggestions? Was I asking for the wrong parts or maybe at a tractor store?

On a side note, my rode has 143,800 on the original timing belt... That is why I'm starting to get worried.....

call St. Charles Isuzu to get all of your parts. They have free shipping and a discount too, if you say you saw them online. They get your parts to you fast and the order will be correct. They always help me out, very knowledgeable.

I don't know their number off-hand, but look through the FAQ's on the top of the Rodeo page, it's on there.

I give up with both stores, i.e Advanced and Napa, neither of them ever have anything in stock and they're a bunch of lane brains.

I got most of my stuff, minus the cam and crank seals and the tensioner, at Advance for the job. I didn't realize at first that the timing belt installation kit doesn't include the tensioner. I got that through St. Charles.

Re: Timing Belt Parts and Bad Auto Parts Staff

I've found that (if you can) you have to do your research ahead of time & know exactly what you need before you walk into any parts place. None of them can stock everything & new-school knowledge is always limited. If I have time to plan my job, I'll typically mail-order parts. No time & my closest outlets are napa and carquest. If I were doing a timing belt job, the only place I'd get my parts is www.stcharlesauto.com Genuine isuzu is the only way to go for critical stuff like that, plus Merlin will know exacly what you need. 140K+ on the original stuff? AWESOME!
