I just replaced my fuel filter and now the pump has developed a noticeable whine while the engine is running. I know the pump should be heard when you start it but should it heard. I did expereince a sputtering and the engine stopped. I replaced teh fule filter nad still had some issues but seems to have stopped the sputtering and dying.

I just changed mine also on a 97 and it whined until I filled up the tank and drove for about 25 miles. I'm not sure if it is the same problem but maybe just put some miles on it. good luck!
