When I took my intake manifolds off and apart (for EGR system repair) I had standing oil inside! This could be why my vehicle is consuming oil, and I see occasional oil smoke out the tailpipe (mostly under periods of rapid acceleration ie: merging onto highway traffic).
I believe the main culprit on my vehicle is excessive blow by. Either that or a poorly designed PCV system. I'm not sure if there's any baffling under where the PCV goes into the crankcase, this could be causing oil to make its way into the plenum. Either that or I have excessive blow by caused by worn rings which is causing pressure to build in the crankcase, I should do a compression / leakdown test to verify. I'm planning on making a custom breather apparatus / oil reclamation system (after I pass emissions of course

).
Mainly I'm looking to see if anyone has any input on this matter or whether anyone has run into this problem before, maybe I'm missing something. Regardless I definitely don't want to hydrolock the motor if for some reason it decides to puke a whole bunch of oil into the manifold at one.
