IBM and Honda to launch talking car in SeptemberJay! 08-05-2002, 08:20 PM from europemedia.net (http://www.europemedia.net/shownews.asp?ArticleID=11799); Editor: Cathy O'Sullivan; 30/07/2002 IBM and Honda to launch talking car in September IBM has signed a deal with Honda to make a talking car using IBM's ViaVoice voice recognition software. A navigation system that is integrated with voice recognition software and a small touchscreen will be used in Honda's 2003 Accord model, due to go on sale in September. The voice recognition system works by touching a button on the steering wheel and then speaking aloud. The software will then respond, using the car's audio system to give driving directions. According to IBM rather than just listening for a few keywords as the previous generation of voice-activated computers had done, the system will use a dialogue of words. HiRcc 08-13-2002, 12:08 PM thats awesome THE4TH 09-18-2002, 01:14 AM that sounds sweet i'm gonna have to go give one a test drive.. i know they'll let me .. if i drive the s2k down... :D YellowJacketTT6 10-13-2002, 07:03 PM im skeptical.. there's a system like this that already works.. its call On* :finger: atleast with people at the other end there's less chance of problems... i see problems with software bugs, and the fact that the Voice Reg. programs ive used you have to go through a set up of basic commands so the software "learns" your voice... i'll have to go check this out when it comes out... pretty good idea Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
