What is this part called?Bannon7414 06-25-2006, 12:18 PM C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\000_0209 I have a coolant leak from this piece and need to replace it ASAP but I have no clue what its called or where to find one. Its connected to the coolant tank and as you can see it splits radiator hose in two directions. silicon212 06-25-2006, 12:53 PM C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\000_0209 I have a coolant leak from this piece and need to replace it ASAP but I have no clue what its called or where to find one. Email it to me, I'll host it and then we can post it. Bannon7414 06-25-2006, 05:36 PM Whats your email address silicon212 06-25-2006, 06:10 PM gary(at)silicon212(dot)org Notice it's dot org and not dot com. Bannon7414 06-25-2006, 06:19 PM i sent you the picture of the part silicon212 06-25-2006, 07:10 PM http://www.silicon212.org/000_0209.jpg It looks like a standard tee fitting, except it looks to have a high-pressure hose fitting on the lower portion of it. kahjdh 06-25-2006, 07:34 PM Yea T-fitting, you might be able to find one like that at a hardware store. Bannon7414 06-25-2006, 09:05 PM is there a specific size or is it just a "standard tee fitting" kahjdh 06-25-2006, 10:38 PM if its leaking take it off and go shopping around. but if there are sensor molded into it it could be a little more pricey. krewl1 06-26-2006, 12:12 AM I can see where it splits the one hose but where does the bottom part go to? It looks like one of those 5 dollar prestone flush kits you buy at walmart. kdrolt 06-26-2006, 08:20 AM It's both a T-fitting an a coolant flow restrictor. The resistriction is to prevent high volume (or pressure) water flow into the heater core at high rpms. For this to work properly, you need (a) an orifice restriction going to the heater core and (b) an alternate flow path upstream of the orifice that can reroute excess coolant (that's why there is a "T"). The one shown in the pix is for a 94-96 9C1, as evidenced by the 1T1 silicone rubber (green colored) hoses. The plastic T/restrictor often leaks as it starts to crack, so a brass T replacement is a cheaper solution than buying a new one. IIRC there is also a pn for the plastic T-fitting/restrictor so you don't have to buy the T/restrictor plus crimped fitting and short green hose ($70+ if I recall right). You'll have to search on the ImpalaSSforum for it. HTH. broughy84 06-26-2006, 01:39 PM 1T1 silicone rubber (green colored) hoses.????? Looks like garden hoses to me... silicon212 06-26-2006, 02:36 PM NO, they are not garden hoses. They are lifetime rated heavy duty hoses. They were factory on Police Package (9C1) Caprices. CaPrIcEkInG 06-26-2006, 05:39 PM NO, they are not garden hoses. They are lifetime rated heavy duty hoses. They were factory on Police Package (9C1) Caprices. but they do look like garden hoses... :) broughy84 06-26-2006, 09:47 PM Okay, sorry I never noticed anything like that on our 95 9c1 at work. Bannon7414 06-27-2006, 08:44 AM You guys have any clue where i could pick one up at, I was looking at going to the salvage yard and snatching one off a caprice there. silicon212 06-27-2006, 11:50 AM You guys have any clue where i could pick one up at, I was looking at going to the salvage yard and snatching one off a caprice there. Dealership or junkyard. HLandin 06-28-2006, 08:11 PM Silicon212 was right on target. Those 1T1 hoses were offered as a police option (but most 9c1 cars, to my knowledge, came with them) in 1989 and 1990, and these became standard 9c1 equipment for 1991-1996. They are 100% Silicone hoses (hense the green color) which are good for the life of the vehicle. No joke, sometimes they get discolored or loose their color with age, but I have owned/operated three Caprice 9c1s and I've have never had one fail/need replacement. silicon212 06-28-2006, 08:27 PM Silicon212 was right on target. The ones on my car are factory with 154,000 on them! 1T1 was an option beginning in 1986. randy78 07-01-2006, 12:11 PM 86, neat learned something new also i didnt know they ever put any kind of restriction like that in a heater core hose interesting did the waterpumps really put THAT much pressure/volume out or what ? i dont understand why its needed ? hmm good luck Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
