Question 95 engine

Hi, looks like alone here. But if anyone looks. I'm looking for the way the engine comes out of this car. The manual I have is worthless.

Re: 95 engine

Welcome to the forums!

Are you wanting to pull the engine to do some work on it (lots of components can be worked on/replaced with the engine still in the vehicle) or do you really need it to come out (putting in a new engine, etc)?

Re: 95 engine

THis forum has just been created to separate lumina van from lumina cars which both used the lumina forum until now. So now this is more like the Pontiac Transport forum.
ENgine removal ...like removal of transmission...is done by dropping the half frame out of the car.

Cool Re: 95 engine

Thanks alot, this is what I wanted. It's an APV. Thanks, thanks. My manual was a waste of money. should have spent it on the online one.
I need to replace the engine. it starts, runs (very rough) no real power. Have to keep it gassed up to keep it running. Then there is that kinda pounding sound.
It's the 3.8 so I do believe that is the right stuff.

Re: 95 engine

..??...well...except for the "pounding" sound, all the rest relates probably to fuel control, MAF, clogged catalytic, and these symptoms have been described again and again in various forums and may be would not need a change of engine. What is that pounding sound...crank/ connectong rod bearings?...This of course would be bad ...

Re: 95 engine

I had it at a mech. and he felt that there was no hope. Might have something to do with the the oil leak. I'm sure the engine would need to be opened up. I'm sure it's not just running poor with other problems with MAF (had that on my nissan Max). I'm guessing bearings or something broke off. What I have no idea.
I plan to open it up when I get it out to see what damage I can find and where that leak came from.
