Sporadic coolant leak 1999 Yukonmyrone 06-24-2006, 09:29 AM I've noticed a puddle of coolant under the vehicle from time to time, all the hoses appear to be in good condition, and the radiator too. Can the water pump show such symptoms? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Myrone intrcptrbird 06-25-2006, 05:07 AM there are "weap" holes on the front side of the water pump. Those leak when the pump is bad. Look and see if thats where the source is. If pressure test does not pick it up they make leak dye for the coolant system and with the special /black light the leak will show up. And for sure on a GM check that intake for leakage outside and watch the oil condition for a inside leak another good reason to use the dye test. Thank you, Myrone OH OH These vehicles have plastic, aluminum and steel in the intake manifold, all seperated by gaskets taht allow coolant to circulate. They are expected to fail after 6 or 7 years. It is a big job to tear off the induction system off and replace a $1 gasket but that is the cure. Check to see if the coolant is running down fron the top of the block. Darn GM thats why I bought a Toyota. redbull660 01-29-2007, 11:35 PM my 1998 yukon is doing the same thing it looks like a wet puddle underneath the thermostat, and it is running down the front of the engine. I think it needs a new intake gasket.
