Mechanic didn't knowsoul-rebel 06-18-2006, 05:41 PM I have a 98 monte carlo and am currently having erratic problems. It seems like once a week or 2 my car is almost undrivable. It will cut out really hard once I accelerate. It will feel like its running out of gas but it seems to cut out even harsher than that. I had a few mechanics drive it while it was acting up but they were puzzled. No codes coming on a diagnostics. They believe its an electric problem but don't really know any input would be great thanks in advance gmtech79 06-18-2006, 05:56 PM The vehicle needs to be driven with a fuel gauge and a scan tool and watch what the fuel pressure does when this happens and also need to watch data on a scan tool. Watch for a sensor sending skewed info back to the pcm or dropping out. Not always will a sensor set a dtc. richtazz 06-21-2006, 01:57 PM Does the tach needle drop to zero and the abs/trac off lights come on when it does this? If so, its a classic sign of a screwy crank position sensor. BNaylor 06-21-2006, 02:09 PM It would be helpful to post your engine size, 3.1 or 3800 and the mileage.
