can anyone tell me what causes a random misfiring.

this could be a long shot, and it's been a wile since I sold my ram, but if I remember correctly, there was a TSB (Technical Service Bulliten) about this. I think it involved rerouting the plug wires, and/or coil wire.

Found the TSB. Thanks. Here is the link. I did a tuneup last week, but I think I will try this re-route.
