Thumbs up 92 Ranger Modulator Valve

Just in case anyone else is having the same problem I had, I am going to give my little story. If anyone is having problems of recieving poor MPG (bout 15mpg on the highway), rough running, check engine light staying on & most important transmission fluid being low an automatic transmissions, check your transmission modulator valve first thing. After 8 months of headaches, I've finally found the problem. I've had the same problem for the past 8 months & never could get the truck running right & spent about $3000 in repairs attempting to fix it. I was ready to get rid of the truck, when I decided I would spend the money to take it to another shop & get their opinion as the shop I was taking it to said the only way to fix it would be to rebuild the motor. About an hour after they started to look at it they could me to let me know the Modulator Valve was bad & that it was sucking trans fluid in to my vacumn lines, thus causing the EEC to believe the motor was running lean & keep putting more & more fuel in to it. Spent the $300 to have the Modulator Valve replaced, vacumn lines replaced & oxygen sensor replaced as the trans fluid ruined it. For the very first time in 8 months I now have a truck that runs like brand new with not even a shake in it & no check engine light on. So if anyone else is having the same problems I've experienced, get your modulator valve replaced before doing anything else. Hope this helps someone out
