1990 HONDA ACCORD

Thanks to all who helped me here last time when I changed my timing belt. The valves turned out fine!

Anyway, a few months ago my clutch pedal dropped to the floor while I was at a stop light. I simply pulled it back up with my toes and it went back to normal. So I topped off the fluid when I got home. Until now it has been fine. Yesterday I felt the friction point move way up to the front of the pedal...meaning I have to push it way up there before I feel it start to work. Also, I have been noticing small oil spots on the driveway from my car. So I jacked it up and looked up under it and there's oil spread out on the bottom of the motor...not pouring out or even dripping. Its just there.

Now I know that my oil pan gasket needs changing, but I also saw that oil seems to be coming out from where the shift arm lever goes in. On page 13-10 of my service manual it shows that there is an oil seal there. Would this affect my clutch? How do I replace that seal? My manual doesn't show me how. Its the lever that moves under the dizzy when you shift throught the gears. It looks like oil has been coming out of there.

I plan to bleed the clutch, but I thought I'd ask in case anyone had this problem before. I don't know if that oil seal would do it, so for now I will stick to the cylinders and the fluid.

Any help would be appreciated!

The slave cylinder for the clutch is blown and leaking, that's probably brake fluid mixed with some leaking oil you see.

Fill the clutch master and have someone pump the clutch while you look under there. You'll probably see it dripping out.

It wasn't leaking out of it, but when I pulled back the rubber boot a buch of fluid poured out. I assume thats bad...lol. $21.00 part, off to Autozone :o)

Thanks jeffcoslacker. I am pretty sure this is the clutch problem...right? The oil is just common for its age I guess...I'll get that oil pan gasket replaced. I have to pull down the exhaust first for that though right?

Clutch is fixed :grinno:
