Hand brake light and door ajar light stay on

Hi Everyone. I just joined this forum yesterday and already found a couple of helpful problem solving solutions for my 95 Pathfinder (automatic).

I have another problem I hope you can help me with. My dome light indicator and hand (emergency) brake indicator light at the front panel stay on all the time, although they intermittently turn off or flicker once in a while. Consequently the dome light is on, although the brake is not. I've had to turn off the dome light or else it flickers when I drive.

I have inspected all the door switches and they are all working perfectly.

Its always both indicator lights that come on/ go off at the same time.
I'm guessing there is a short somewhere but I don't have a clue where to start looking.

any ideas? or links to similar post would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Daniel

The dome light switch in your rear hatch needs adjustment to fix the dome light flicker. The switch is attached to the latch at the bottom of the hatch inside the trim panel.

Get your brakes checked immediately! That's NOT the handbrake light, it is the brake warning light. It typically means your fluid is low and you need new brakes, or there is something else wrong with the brakes..
