Headlights will not turn off

I have a strange problem. I recently bought a 2000 LS. I noticed that as long as the truck is running, my headlights, taillights and dashlights are always on. They never shut off. Turning the headlight switch does nothing. Has anyone ever encoutered this problem?

Re: Headlights will not turn off

Blazers are equipped with Daytime Running Lights, and an automatic switch that turns them on all the time. Additionally, our trucks have a low light sensor that turns on the headlights automatically in low light conditions - nighttime, raining and overcast, etc.
This is normal for GM Vehicles made since the late 90's.

Re: Headlights will not turn off

Yes, I am aware of both the Daytime Running lights and the low light sensor. However, they will not even shut off during a bright sunny day. They just never shut off. No matter which position the light switch is at, they remain on. It is very annoying and I do not want to replace headlights and taillights constantly.

Re: Headlights will not turn off

I would start looking at the relays and switches associated with the DRLs nad check to make sure that they are operating properly. It sounds like it could be a bad relay or perhaps the sensor has failed in an always on position.
