spec-v and srt-4auracle 06-08-2006, 12:07 AM whats ur guys' opinions on how these 2 compete with each other? ive read some threads, but, i want more. whatchall think Chiquae07 06-08-2006, 02:48 AM this is really open. due to it being in the sentra section, it shoudnt get to bad. srt-4s are good, but not that great. im not sure how u can try and get how the 2 compare with each other. they are both cars in 2 different classes. for 1, the soec-v isnt forced inducted. if it was, then this would be a logical comparison but it isn't. a spec-v will kill a srt-4 in all aspects but straight line power. pluz insurance is cheaper for spec-v than srt-4. lower maintaince rate, etc...its not really the srt-4's are bad, its ususally the cocky driver behind the wheel thinks they are all bad ass, and run a 15 in the 1/4 at the track. the srt-4 runs ususally low 14s. the fastest on street tires spec-v runs is about a low to flat 15. now if u were to grab i/h/e cams and a ecu tune, u could too be there with the srt-4s. cheaper price, better gas milage, getter everything else. i think i have said enough. nismo_pilot 06-08-2006, 02:05 PM the spec will kill the srt in just about everything but 3rd gear and on in a drag............the spec gets out of the hole better and will actually beat the srt in the 1/8th mile if the sentra driver knows what he's doing, open diff means the srt wont handle as good and for the 5k in price difference you could have yourself a turbocharged spec which will put out almost 100 more hp if you spent the entire 5k on mods............dollar for dollar the spec is a better choice ProZach626 06-08-2006, 04:45 PM I looked at the SRT4's, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy a dodge. I'm not a Domestic fan at all. Which would you think most people would hold to a higher standard, a Nissan or a Dodge? I'm going to break the two cars down visually. (i'm comparing with my 03, I don't like 04+ front clip or the rims) Okay so the SRT4 looks cool with the big spoiler and the hood scoop. It even has a decent ground effects package. However, it looks rather childish and most people will still say "well that's just a neon". Who really wants to drive a neon besides the people that can't afford to mod anything else? It also looks childish in a way. Okay so lets take my spec v. Yeah it didn't look fast and furious when I bought it, but it had one major thing on it that the SRT4 didn't: CLASS. Even starting with my basic 03 spec, I still turned heads sometimes. If it doesn't look sporty enough for you, do subtle non-riced out mods, like I did to mine. I have a 03 silver spec v. The front end of this car is beautiful and agressive without screaming "look at me i'm a teenager". It even looks better when you take the front Nissan Badge off, as I did. I also painted my brake calipers a dark red to match my SeR logo and purchased a nice set of zinc plated drilled and slotted rotors which look and perform awesome. This looks great through the 03 wheels because the wheels don't hide them. After that I tinted my windows 35% which isn't cheesy dark and looks different in every shade of light, which is pretty cool. I get a lot of compliments for not getting the typical jet black. I got the darkest sunstrip I could and put a very non-obnoxious spec v logo italisized and not not very bold or big. The only other thing besides that is got halogen lights to make my headlights a slight shade of blue. I keep my car clean all the time. None of the cosmetic mods I have done to my car are loud and they are all classy. They all blend well and I get plenty of looks from all ages, young and old, not just the 16 year old punks. The girls I have dated all love my car because it stand out, yet it doesn't fit in with the teenage kids and their rice rockets. The only other things that will effect my car visually to come are lowering 1.5 inches, new tires, and exhaust(nismo which looks nice. NO RICE PIPES ON NISSAN). So there you have my VISUAL comparison. My car turns more heads and gets more respect than any SRT4 I have ever seen. Plus with their ground effects package and spoiler, you can't alter them much to make yours look unique. I just with Nissan wouldn't have changed the front clip, the rims, and the guages on the 04+ models(that's my opinon I don't knock the 04+ models because their tranny is a lot smoother than mine ;) lol). For the record I have the black/grey interior, i'm not a huge fan of the red/black. + SRT4's blow engines like crazy because if you mod them at all without building the engine you are screwing yourself. + Half the reason SRT4's handle so well is because of sticky tires, put stickys on specs and look out outlaw7532 06-08-2006, 09:23 PM Can we get another comparison and not a list of mods on a Sentra? fugiot 06-08-2006, 10:42 PM I don't know what you guys are smokin', but the SRT will spank the Spec in just about every performance category except slalom. The Spec bests even an STi in slalom speed, but an SRT will smoke a Spec off the line and the whole way down the strip. Bad part is, the SRT has a horribly inefficient motor. Get this.... The SRT is making 220hp from about 16lbs of boost(I think). An OLD Nissan motor like the SR20 makes 205hp from SEVEN pound of boost. An SR20 under 16lbs would make about 300hp. The QR in the Spec would do about the same. Other than that and the fact that the SRT blows head gaskets left and right, it IS a very good performer. A decent driver can get a 14.0 quarter out of a stock SRT. Dollar for dollar, the SRT wins in performance. I just don't like 'em. Motors like the SR20VE, the K20 and the B18 are what belong in FWD sport compacts. Torque steer is teh sukk. Torque Low_Shift High, bitches. nismo_pilot 06-08-2006, 11:00 PM the only srt that hooks up off the line is the elusive competition group trim level srt's with the lsd up front, i dogged a stage 3 srt all the way up until midway through 3rd cuz he had one tire up in smoke, they are quick but only from a roll, combine that with the fact that as fugiot said, they only make 220hp on 16 lbs most of theyre power comes in high end giving you plenty of time to jump out ahead of them and hold them off for the 8th, any time after that and they have caught you, but i have personally beat a srt to the 8th, after that they drive right around though, and the spec will walk a srt around the skidpad, unless its the comp group one again then its pretty close Chiquae07 06-09-2006, 12:12 AM fugiot ftw!!!!!!...we also helped. i diddnt think much people would be reading this besides us.. slideways... 06-09-2006, 04:32 AM Motors like the SR20VE, the K20 and the B18 are what belong in FWD sport compacts. Torque steer is teh sukk. hmmmm you must hate specs then. but anyways... fugiot is the only one here who speaks the truth. SRT > spec in every way. except for the fact that the SRT is a neon and that takes it down a notch its not that inefficient either, but there are things that can be improved (like the hot side of the turbo is actually part of the exhaust manifold) the srt is rated at 215 but actually makes around 225 to the wheels a redtop SR20 is rated at 203 and makes like 170-175 to the wheels, so there really is a bigger difference than you realize. and the other thing is torque. the SRT has tons of torque. smallish turbo, tons of boost, 2.4L engine = torque all over the place. the only srt that hooks up off the line is the elusive competition group trim level srt's with the lsd up front, i dogged a stage 3 srt all the way up until midway through 3rd cuz he had one tire up in smoke, no you dogged a stage 3 because he has no idea how to drive. or has really bad tires. or both. a stock srt will launch quite well. you may get him off 1st by a hair but after that he should be gone. the spec will kill the srt in just about everything but 3rd gear and on in a drag............the spec gets out of the hole better and will actually beat the srt in the 1/8th mile if the sentra driver knows what he's doing, open diff means the srt wont handle as good and for the 5k in price difference you could have yourself a turbocharged spec which will put out almost 100 more hp if you spent the entire 5k on mods............dollar for dollar the spec is a better choice no no no the srt motor is built better and will handle quite a bit more hp than a spec could hope for. how fast is the fastest spec? 12s? there are already at least several srt4s in the 10s. the spec motor was created for the base model altima. theres really nothing special about it. the SRT can be built faster for cheaper and has a higher limit. im sorry to bust your nissan bubbles but the truth is the truth. and actually the open diff means nothing as far as handling. open diff actually will make a FWD car turn easier. it just makes for slower lap times because you have to be lighter on the throttle coming out of the corner. ok now for this steaming pile... I looked at the SRT4's, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy a dodge. I'm not a Domestic fan at all. Which would you think most people would hold to a higher standard, a Nissan or a Dodge? IM PROZACH. IM AN IGNORANT RICER. THATS ALL. now let me explain how this works. not liking a car because your not a domestic fan? thats just as ignorant as those domestic owners that say imports suck because they are missing 4 cylinders. next you precede to go on this long rant about how your spec turns heads...you say nothing about how your car is actually better, just that alot of people stare at it. thats not necessarily a good thing. all this talk of how you compare looks of a couple stock SRTs that you saw compare to what you think of your car makes you ignorant. there are other opinions than just yours. then after all this talk of looks you go on to say you dont want to put a fart can on it because it will make it into a rice rocket. you my friend are what i call a closet ricer. either use some common sense in your judgements, or just stop pretending and start buying vinyl. oh and the last thing....this was COMPLETELY the wrong post to put this in. failure for even beginning to answer his question. now heres tom with the weather ProZach626 06-09-2006, 09:34 PM I don't even know where to start other than saying it takes an ignorant person to try and make his point through offending someone. So cangratulations for making yourself look like an idiot, but i'm sure you don't care along with most of the internet hard asses that have no respect for other peoples' opinions. But here is why (in my opinion of course) I think your a dumbass Maybe I'm wrong but I think I made it pretty clear that I was mostly comparing the looks of the two vehicles. As for me being a ricer, I think you're way out of line. I stated that I didn't like domestics, big deal. So if I'm a ricer because I personally don't like domestics, that's fine. Are you going to call people who refuse to buy imports red-necks? I guess i'll forget about the other non-Japanese cars I like such as Subarus, BMW's, Volkswagons, Etc because I just found out that I must be way too hooked up on the new fast and furious movie coming out. I also must be fucking retarded to assume that people actually look at my car. In that case, I should have told some guy that complimented me on my ricer piece of shit that he was out of his fucking mind last night. As far as me saying people will respect Nissans over Dodge vehicles, I think that point can be valid. Whenever I hear people talk about Nissans 9 out of 10 times it has to do with them being very reliable long lasting vehicles. 9 out 10 conversations that I hear about dodge vehicles have to do with their transmissions being pieces of shit or how they are cheap cars. That's just my 1st hand experience. Keep in mine I even hear dodge owners trashing their cars along with other domestic brand owners. As far as you second guessing Nismo_pilot, I think you need to guess again. You never thought to consider the numerous midifications he has done to his Spec V. You also didn't think to admit that he might be a good driver as well. I have taken in a lot of information from Nismo_Pilot and I think if anyone on these forums knows Spec V's, he does. However, you just chose to insult him. These forums are for sharing advice and opinions. If you can't do that politely and respectfully then I think your focus should directed a lot less at cars and little more at growing up. nismo_pilot 06-09-2006, 10:39 PM lol thanks for the D zach but im really not offended by slideways......he's just as knowledgable as anyone else ive seen here, however the srt i beat through third was spinning his tires all the way through third, the kid can drive i know him personally but that car was putting out WAY too much power to be effective in a drag without a lsd up front, that being said the comp group srt's are monsters, they are basicly like a spec on light boost, because they hook up hard. Tell me how a peg-legging car will outhandle a lsd car through skidpad, once your one tire with power breaks loose your speed drops and you head for the outside with a quickness, with two tires spinning your traction/drive wheels are double the contact path......... nismo_pilot 06-09-2006, 10:49 PM no no no the srt motor is built better and will handle quite a bit more hp than a spec could hope for. how fast is the fastest spec? 12s? there are already at least several srt4s in the 10s. the spec motor was created for the base model altima. theres really nothing special about it. the SRT can be built faster for cheaper and has a higher limit. im sorry to bust your nissan bubbles but the truth is the truth. Lets not forget srt owners begin with a motor with all forged internals and it comes boosted already, power mods are easier because you dont have to fab up a turbo mani or swap internals, as far as power potential the spec puts out almost 300hp on 8-9 pounds of boost where a srt puts out around 220 or so on 16..........sounds to me like the spec motor is more capable of power, competition group srt's go for around 24k so lets use that one so we both have similar drivetrains and suspensions, with this comparison skidpad and slalom numbers are almost identical so we'll call them even...........now for power, you can snag a 6-speed lsd spec for around 17k, you think that for 7k you cant make the spec faster? forged internals and new valvetrain will enable you to handle around 15psi of boost and thats being safe, and should cost around 2k. Drop the rest on a turbo kit and you can make 450hp no problem...... all while your pretty little srt is only making around 250 or so, whatever engine mods come with the competition group. I will stand behind the fact that the qr25 is probably the worst designed engine ive seen, but even with shitty internals it can make 300hp on only 9lbs of boost...........srt-4 nothing nismo_pilot 06-09-2006, 11:01 PM [QUOTE=ProZach626]You also didn't think to admit that he might be a good driver as well. [QUOTE] No he didnt, maybe when i get MY 240 going i can make a little road trip and teach him a thing or two.......whatdya think slide? :ylsuper: fugiot 06-10-2006, 02:26 AM hmmmm you must hate specs then. I Don't HATE them, but I do find the QR to be quite a boring motor in contrast to the SR an VQ. fugiot 06-10-2006, 02:30 AM however the srt i beat through third was spinning his tires all the way through third, the kid can drive i know him personally but that car was putting out WAY too much power to be effective in a drag without a lsd up front Dude, you have to accept the fact the your friend isn't a very good driver. If the tires are spinning, why is he still flooring it? He'd be going much faster if he let off a bit to let the tires grab. A car doesn't have to come with TCS. It's called your right foot. :2cents: He was probably banging the fuel cut in 1st and 2nd too, according to your story. slideways... 06-10-2006, 08:04 AM I don't even know where to start other than saying it takes an ignorant person to try and make his point through offending someone. umm if you took that personally, it further proves my point that you are ignorant. just pause, let the smoke clear, and read your post again. then read the first post. then see how you suck for writing that. So cangratulations for making yourself look like an idiot, i found this sort of funny but i'm sure you don't care along with most of the internet hard asses that have no respect for other peoples' opinions. aahhhh but i do care. just when a huge pile of nothing is posted as...what...a brag list? im not sure but it just reeks of ignorance. i will call you out if you suck. it happens. But here is why (in my opinion of course) I think your a dumbass ok sure. you can have your opinion. its just wrong. Maybe I'm wrong but I think I made it pretty clear that I was mostly comparing the looks of the two vehicles. ok fine. but you DIDNT READ THE QUESTION THEN!!!! ZOMFG :banghead: how many times must i say this. As for me being a ricer, I think you're way out of line. ok if you think im wrong, then ill list reasons why your a riceboy/ignorant jackass 1. "Okay so the SRT4 looks cool with the big spoiler and the hood scoop." spoiler = ugly as sin. scoop = stupid looking 2. "Who really wants to drive a neon besides the people that can't afford to mod anything else?" lots and lots and lots of people who know that a neon has something behind it(at least the SRT4 and the DOHC 95-up models) 3. "but it had one major thing on it that the SRT4 didn't: CLASS." HAHAHAHAHHAHAH:rofl:         you want class, buy a BMW 4. "I also painted my brake calipers a dark red to match my SeR logo and purchased a nice set of zinc plated drilled and slotted rotors which look and perform awesome." i bet 20 bucks they are some ebay rotors. i know for a fact they arent real brembos because brembo doesnt sell rotors that are both drilled and slotted, unless you get them in a big brake kit 5. "My car turns more heads and gets more respect than any SRT4 I have ever seen." sure kid. this reminds me of that one aussie kid who came on the 240 forums asking about how he could get more "street cred". 6. "Plus with their ground effects package and spoiler, you can't alter them much to make yours look unique." yes you can. 7. and then theres all the other times you talk about how your car looks so cool and gets so much attention. your not going to understand this one, so ill explain. i dont doubt everyones cars get attention. im just listing this as its the topic of your post that completely failed to answer this guys question. Are you going to call people who refuse to buy imports red-necks? ill either call them rednecks or ignorant jackasses I guess i'll forget about the other non-Japanese cars I like such as Subarus, BMW's, Volkswagons, Etc because I just found out that I must be way too hooked up on the new fast and furious movie coming out. you must be way too hooked up on F&F to realize SUBARUS ARE JAPANESE CARS YOU DUMB FUCK! ROFL I also must be fucking retarded to assume that people actually look at my car. In that case, I should have told some guy that complimented me on my ricer piece of shit that he was out of his fucking mind last night. yes you should have.:uhoh: As far as me saying people will respect Nissans over Dodge vehicles, I think that point can be valid. Keep in mine I even hear dodge owners trashing their cars along with other domestic brand owners. ok this is not a valid point, it just means you think what you witness is how everyone in the world thinks and acts. However, you just chose to insult him. when did i insult him? i may not know all hes done to his car, but he would basically have to turbo to beat a SRT4 with a stage 3 and a competent driver. more ignorance:shakehead These forums are for sharing advice and opinions. If you can't do that politely and respectfully then I think your focus should directed a lot less at cars and little more at growing up. you need to get over yourself. just because you got called on being a forum noob and a dumbass doesnt mean you can lecture me. thats kind of backwards. you fail at life. Lets not forget srt owners begin with a motor with all forged internals nope. cast pistons. ok now for the origional question again competition group srt's go for around 24k so lets use that one so we both have similar drivetrains and suspensions, with this comparison skidpad and slalom numbers are almost identical so we'll call them even...........now for power, you can snag a 6-speed lsd spec for around 17k, you think that for 7k you cant make the spec faster? forged internals and new valvetrain will enable you to handle around 15psi of boost and thats being safe, and should cost around 2k. Drop the rest on a turbo kit and you can make 450hp no problem...... all while your pretty little srt is only making around 250 or so, whatever engine mods come with the competition group. not the best comparo but i do see your point. how bout this. MSRP of a new spec is 18,300 MSRP of a new SRT4 is 20,400 add a 600$ quaife on to that SRT and you dont have 7k to work with, you have 2700. now if you can make a spec that can beat an SRT for 2700 over the list then more power to you. but after you can start spending on the SRT, the spec will fall behind. its just how it is, turbo cars are cheaper to get huge gains from than n/a cars. the truth is probly somewhere in the middle so maybe you get the picture nismo_pilot 06-10-2006, 04:36 PM i think were both pissing into the wind when it comes to numbers, prices of cars will vary from region to region but down here you can expect to see no rebates on the srt-4 and it will retail for around 21k, ill give you the quaife for free, i bought my spec for 17k after rebates (which dodge does not offer), tell me you cant make 300whp on 4k worth of turbo kit..........the srt and spec are in two totally different classes but once you turn the spec into a FI car it will wax the srt.......and fugiot, the sr and vq have a lot of power potential but half of the fun in driving a spec is trying to wrestle the steering wheel back onto the road when you floor it in 1-2 gear..........makes for an interesting drive fugiot 06-10-2006, 08:47 PM An SR powered B13/14 will have considerable torque steer also. The QR just doesn't seem to "go anywhere". If you know what I mean. The SR and VQ build power throughout the rev range in a climactic sort of way while the QR seems to have the meat of the power in the middle revs. I prefer high-revving, peaky motors. .....'cept the B16, that thing sucks. slideways... 06-10-2006, 11:16 PM i prefer high revving fat powerband motor. nothing sexier than a v8 screaming to 10k nismo_pilot 06-11-2006, 12:48 AM ^^^^^^^ *shudders* formula one FTW! slideways... 06-11-2006, 12:51 AM well i was thinking of jgtc supras but yeah F1 too. but those are v8s that rev to 15k lol ProZach626 06-11-2006, 07:06 AM oooooooh damn looks like I got slammed........ 1st of all, thanks for picking out my typo I almost missed that one. 2nd I made it very clear that the post that I made was my OPINION that I decided to put out there. I can't comment as much as other people on the performance of cars because I can honestly say that I don't know much about them other than what I hear and read when I get the chance. However, that's not very often since I'm just some 21 year old total kid working 50 hours a week, going to school 12-15 hours a week, playing on two different hockey teams, helping take care of my ill mother, while maintaining a serious relationship. Trust me, I wish my life revolved only around cars, it would be a lot more simple. But hey, I guess I have a ton of growing up to do. I know I sure as hell have a lot to learn about performance vehicles. However, until then I will post what I know. I wanted to bring all aspects of the competition between the SRT-4 and th Spec V to the table and i now know that I'm some kind of a worthless asshole for doing so. I wasn't necessarily trying to answer anyone's question. I also never said my rotors were brembos. I said they looked and performed nice. Trust me, if I could afford brembos I would have purchased them. Please excuse the fuck out of me for not knowing that Subarus were Japanese. I will always think that the Spec V has class. In the area I live in, I have never seen a nice neon, just gutted pieces of shit with loud exhaust, giant wings, and racing sripes. I'm also sorry, I will never admit that I have a nice car again. My 2003 Nissan Spec V is the biggest piece of shit car I have ever driven. I wish I had my 94 Isuzu Pickup truck back so I can get some real respect. Hopefully I didn't make any typos. On a side note, does anyone know where I can purchase a nismo vinyl that is bright red that will wrap around my whole car? I think it would go great with my hardcore street racer I have... parking lot drift racing here I come. Right after I buy racing pedals for rice rocket and try to go race my friends z06 vette. Wish me luck Chiquae07 06-11-2006, 11:33 AM lmao prozach.....just relax and take things for the boards like a pinch of salt. otherwise its been dropped. idk if sideways was having a bad day or somethin, but thats the only snappy resonse ive seen from him. besides i agree on the nissans have class thing, since i get the same. nismo_pilot 06-11-2006, 05:57 PM lol were all boys here man, dont flip out too much, youre going to get ribbed from time to time, he got me too and all it did was spark a nice debate, dont take things so personally, and just remember that the longer your posts and the more serious you take yourself the more you open yourself up to disagreement and criticism.........and lets not forget, nissans USED to have class, at least the sentras anyways, i know before renault took them over they made cars you couldnt destroy with a bulldozer, now you hit a pothole and bend half of your suspension components, no four door sedan for under 20k is going to have "class" but you can have a nice car, which i belive the sentra is, but the look of a car is only a very small part of how it competes with another car. That being said the sentra i believe looks a little nicer and may draw more " ooo whats that"...........but if youve ever seen an srt-4 roll by and hear it blow off you'll look too Rowen'sSpec-V 02-18-2007, 05:54 PM Just to throw my two cents in here, since everbody has to. I'm working on my second Spec-V. I have an 05 now that will be getting the treatment. I had an 02' where the screw flew inside my engine and jew'd me. Hence the 05. My 02' was turbo'd running on 8 lbs of boost. The last dyno test i had put me about approx 250hp and 225-230 lb tq. I did not even use a larger turbo for this either as i really hate alot of turbo lag. I've pushed with an SRT, and i beg to differ that they are not nearly as great as everyone is saying. That car is a bit bigger than the Spec-V, and with my turbo running a portion of what it was. I ate the shit out of it. In the quarter i put about a car and a half length on him. If you have to sell a car with turbo to even make it marketable then you could crawl in the corner and shoot yourself. You want to bless the NEON. You should be ashamed. In Neon tradition head gasket gone, and the tranny of old died quickly, and the new isn't too much greater. You take this turbo off, and you have an oversized civic wannabe without much of the top end power. You want to say the neon SRT is better than you need to understand that you are talking about a tuned car already. You put 16 lbs on the Sentra and see what happens. Granted the QR25 would basically blow up. Bulletproof this thing, and then boost her with 16 lbs and see exactly what you produce. A monster. The car is smaller lighter, and will drastically outperform the SRT. Make it go grying back to mommy. Save the Neon praising for when they make one they can really say is without nearly as many flaws. PS My 02 ran the 1/4 mile in approx 12.9 smile for the camera's. ProZach626 02-18-2007, 06:39 PM Just to throw my two cents in here, since everbody has to. Ever think about going VQ for your second spec? Rowen'sSpec-V 02-19-2007, 01:25 PM To be honest no. The VQ i don't know too much about, but i think it is a V6 if i'm correct. Once this one gets paid off i'm going to set it aside for my extra special tuner car. I'm going to get one of the new 07 QR25DE Sentra engines, and make that mother bulletproof. I'll sleeve it, and blockgaurd it. Metal head gasket and all. I'll also put in some crower rods and JE forged Pistons. This engine will be tight. Head work will be a little less minimal as cams would be a pain. Can get some valve springs made for it as well. I haven't heard about a crank, but will probably find a way of getting a different. With this bombproof. Then this is a very excellent engine to turn. Can push a decent sized turbo runnning what those competitors are pushing 12-24 lbs of boost. With the displacement size of this engine the HP gained is nice. The way this engine also works allows it to gain a very decent torque along with the horse power. These engines as are BHP around 155 hp with about 150 lbs of torque which is hella nice. When you have perfected the 6th speed, and really learned to abuse this car then well this really is a great platform for a turner. The engine puts good base model power, and with a turbo just eats. The good thing with the turbo though is that you do not loose alot of your low end power that goes stratight to the high RPM's. Running 12-24 lbs of boost on this bulletproof engine will get you around 160-320 more HP on this. You do a port and pollish job on this pretty aggressively and find a good air to fuel ratio, and you can reallistically get into the 500 WHP on this thing, and still maintain around a 15-20 MPG if you can drive it right. The ONLY problem with this is the massive wheel hop that you get with these torqued beasts. So to answer your question is nope. If i do it i'm going to do it right, and keep it SPEC-V QR25 Style since the engine really is a great building point. nismo_pilot 02-19-2007, 09:17 PM you can destroke the qr and it will rev to almost 9k rpm with single springs, if you can find a set of double valvesprings the sr20det crank with some minor work will have the qr revving to 10k, 300 NA whp with 11.5:1 comp pistons and longer rods at almost 10k rpm, beats a turbo any year day or week slideways... 02-19-2007, 09:44 PM find me a destroked qr with over 200hp. then ill believe that. also, i like rowen's comparo. ill break it down for all you who dont want to read a novel: "a boosted spec will spank the shit out of a stock SRT4". no shit sherlock. pls go over previous posts. im even overlooking the fact you thought it was smart to bring up a year old thread. im sorry, but this argument has been hashed over and over. my belief resides with the fact they are both great cars for the $, but the SRT has an edge over the spec. and im a nissan guy, not a neon guy. nismo_pilot 02-19-2007, 11:01 PM lol yeah dead thread, but theres a na destroked project in the works at forced induction racing that should yeild around 280-300 hp when alls said and done with an 8700rpm redline and 11.5:1 comp ratio Rowen'sSpec-V 02-19-2007, 11:15 PM Oh ya want to trash me. If its a hashed thread then but out. Your making a comparison between a car that stand alone is actually a very good car. The sentra. Your making that comparsion to a piece of S**t that happens to have a weak engine with turbo. You can put 16 lbs on a POS escort and get the same thing. And i do welcome any idea's or suggestions on a way to go with the new Spec this year. Don't think i'm knocking that, just give it some respect. Don't down talk to me because i threw something in there. It was hashed because it was there, and i thought it would open up an interesting conversation that i could benefit from. Obviously some people have seen it on here, and are down with the thread so cut it some slack. You don't have to be a prick about it. nismo_pilot 02-20-2007, 12:12 AM start a new thread for your project and we will discuss it there, this is kind of a dead thread and all Chiquae07 02-20-2007, 12:13 AM sounds pretty sweet for the qr guys, but i'd wait it out to see what problems arise. basically, srt-4 kills the spec. end of story, stock for stock. nismo_pilot 02-20-2007, 12:15 AM stock for stock the spec is not force inducted like the srt so there is no heads up comparo, two different clases of cars, id like to see any 4cyl non turbo car line up with me, oh wait ive smoked just about every differnet kind of NA 4 cyl out there Rowen'sSpec-V 02-21-2007, 01:11 PM I guess Nismo, thats what i'm saying. This car for a 4 cyl non turbo is a hell of a car. I will agree on that. I was merely trying to illustrate that point, only you seemed to have found a much better way to hit the point. Yes different classes, but without the turbo its no match for the Spec. So without the fighting and arguing. We have the same point, you were just able to illustrate it a little better, and more to the point than I. sincspecv 02-21-2007, 03:59 PM find me a destroked qr with over 200hp. then ill believe that. http://www.fi-r.net/viewtopic.php?t=38 sincspecv 02-21-2007, 04:15 PM To be honest no. The sleeves can handle up to 55psi so that's all you need. don't buy an 07 QR. It's the same engine with forged rods, balanced crankshaft, new cams and a higher CR. if you're going to build it then there's no point. You should balance and cryotreat the crankshaft, get forged rods/pistons, go with a lower CR and you can get some reground cams for about $400 (click here (http://www.myspecv.com/f/t2722-turbo-cams-the-moment-you-all-been-waiting-for.html)). Besides all that, putting the 07 QR in your spec would be a headache electronically. You don't have to be a prick about it. where the fuck do you get off telling me that i should butt out of a year old thread that i took place in origionally? fuck you. i never said the sentra was a bad car. i like sentras alot. the fact is that they are in fact in the same class of car, and the SRT is faster stock for stock, or mod for mod. the SRT does NOT have a weak engine. get your fucking facts straight. 2.4L iron block forged rods forged crank coated pistons...hmmm sounds alot like the spec sheet from a KA24DE, only with better pistons...and a stock KA24 can handle upwards of 16lbs of boost. i wasnt talking down to you before but now i am. your a fuckface with no clue what your saying. you obviously have your spec's cock so far up your ass that you cant even comprehend that another car might be faster. either start a new thread with your plans for your new car, and ill give my opinion on it, or shut up about an old thread that you havent even put any worthy input into anyways. saying "i could make a 500000000hp car with the base price difference" is pointless. i could buy a origional mini cooper for dirt cheap, swap in a bolt on ZC honda motor, and run 12s all day long. for way less than your spec cost. does that make it a better car? no. i hate retarted comparos like this. you obviously were looking for people to jerk you off about how cool your spec is and brought up stupid arguments that dont make sense to make your car sound faster than it is. this thread is done. lock it up. and pls, dont open another thread with the same stupid topic. Rowen'sSpec-V 02-22-2007, 10:20 AM Dude thats not very nice at all, and i have reported you for it. I was simply making a statement that you took completely out of context. There's no need for that kind of stuff. But if you feel that you need the last word, and that was it then by all means. Lets just drop it at this and no hard feelings. I'm not here to get everyone riled up. So apologies if you took anything the wrong way. nismo_pilot 02-23-2007, 05:52 AM yep, this definitely got out of hand, funny part of all this is anything FWD < RWD slideways... 02-23-2007, 07:11 PM go ahead report me. the mods know my style. besides my language, i was less offensive than you. think for a sec. you made a dumb argument and then, with the clout of all 11 of your posts behind you, told me to butt out? your a noob. you dont get to tell me what to do. kris 02-23-2007, 07:31 PM go ahead report me. the mods know my style. besides my language, i was less offensive than you. think for a sec. you made a dumb argument and then, with the clout of all 11 of your posts behind you, told me to butt out? your a noob. you dont get to tell me what to do.
