Re: How do you have your CB radio hooked up?
I am an old CB'er from the 1970's, pre and post "Convoy". A couple years ago, I found a used, 40-channel mobile radio at a rummage sale for $10. I wired up a 12-volt cigarette lighter plug, attached my old magnet mount antenna and away I went. I can move this rig from car to car, since I have so many (cars, that is).
In my youth, 30 years ago, the original 23 channels were so crowded with people that the FCC approved expansion to 40 channels. Today, I cannot raise a single person on any channel, even channel 9, the so-called emergency channel. With the advent of cellular telephones, only the truckers use these things anymore. But I am glad to have it, especially when my cell phone says "No Service".
