1989 Corvette no start

After sitting idle over the winter, with battery disconnected, car will not start. This is the second year I have had the problem. The battery is fully charged, turn the key and instrument/dash lights come on, turn the key to start and I get a click from the front of the engine. I had a similar problem last year and someone here advised that it was the anti theft system, to set it and then unlock the door. I did as was suggested, as I remember the advice, and it started, no problems for the rest of the summer. I have tried setting the alarm and then unlocking the door with the key, to no avail.. It is possible that I am forgetting a step in the advice that was provided.... Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
