Importing As A Show Car

I read somewhere here that you can import a Skyline without having to go through Motorex if you register it as a show car. Also, to be defined as a show car, it must be driven less than five-thousand miles per year. Couldn't I just do that, and not drive it that much? Or if I do, turn back the miles a little :frog: Anyway, if I were to do that, how would I register it, and if I was pulled over, what would I show? I'm as confused as this guy --> :smoka:

I'm not sure what exact paper work has to be filed, but yes you can. The thing is you have to make a case as to why this car should be allowed in as a show car. ie. unique technology, antique, ect ect.

I beleave the limited edition Skylines (LeMans, Mspec-nUR) should be ok, and the R32 GTRs for their ATTESSA and such. As for the miles, the number that sticks in my head is 2,500 but that could be wrong.

of course motorex will tell you that.

check out the department of transportation website and all the information is there. you can bring any car in for racing, shows or whatever if approved but you must make a case as why it should be allowed.

Another less known loophole is the fact that you can bring just about any car in for 30 days as long as you prove it was destroyed or exported after 30 days. All the paperwork is there, just figure it out.

Show Car

Just want to mention, even if someone were to bring a GT-R in as a show car, the car still has to pass all EPA requirements. By what I have heard, the EPA requirements are what make the skyline so expensive to import and you will still have to go through MotoRex for that. You might as well just legalize the car.
