2000 s-10 problems please help!!!!

Got a problem with my s-10 2.2l standard trans and I am not really sure what the problem could be. It was just under 80,000 miles, and I am the only owner. The problem is this

This used to happen occasionally, but happens almost every day now. When I drive down the road, mostly in 3rd and 4th gear maintaining a constant speed, it seems to slip in little brief lumps, and sometimes it sticks and when i push on the gas is sounds like it is trying to accelerate unsuccessfully. Sometimes when I am in first gear, it will sound like it is trying unsuccessfully trying to accelerate till it gets to about 3500 rpms, then the RPMs will catch up to how far my foot is pushed down on the pedal.

Other times, when I pull up to a stop light, the RPM's will drop to well under 900 and act as if it is going ot stall out, but it doesnt. The oil pressure also drops when this happens, but I cant recall to what the little "idiot dial" says when this happens because I am too worried about it dying.

Im not too sure what it could be. Clutch? Transmission? Fuel Filter? Godzilla? Timing?

In the past 2 year, I have had to already replace the radiator, a/c, had to get a head remachined, Rear Wheel speed sensor, 2 alternators, and 3 starters (but I think the alternators and starters are because of how it was installed at the shop)

I would appreciate any and all suggestions.

Welcome to Automotive Forums kramrenniks

Sorry that I don't know what the problem is, but I know a few things it isn't.

It isn't Godzilla, Fuel Filter, King Kong, or your drive shaft.

However I haven't ruled out the Loch Ness Monster, clutch or transmission.

To be perfectly honest it sounds more like something I'd expect from a automatic transmission than a standard.

I think that you should check the clutch fluid, which is located on the fire wall. It looks like a brake master cylinder, and they usually take brake fluid.

About your starter and alternator problems.
Only buy top quality.
After having at least 10 starters replaced on warranty in a 2 year period I refuse to by any that aren't a factory unit, or say Bosch Rebuild on them
I got lucky and a really good shop installed them for me, I only had to pay the first time. 3 or 4 of them didn't even work properly right out of the box

Put a new clutch plate, pressure plate and throw-out bearing in it.

Exclamation Re: 2000 s-10 problems please help!!!!

I'm Not 100% On This, But Could It Be The Oil/fuel Pressure Regulator? I Had A Buddy Out In South Al Had The Same Problem, Then Switched Out The Fuel Pressure Regulator.......and I Don't Know. Next Day He Wrapped It Around An Oak Tree, So I Don't Know If That Fixed It Of Not. He Had A Silverado, Though, So It Might Be Different. ALSO CHECK YOUR MOTOR MOUNTS. ON MY OLD 84, THE PASS SIDE MOUNT WAS BENT SLIGHTLY, WHICH CAUSED THE STARTER TO MOUNT A LITTLE OFF TO THE TRANS, AND I WENT THROUGH ABOUT 8 STARTERS BEFORE I TOOK IT TO A GUY WHO ACTUALLY LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE BEFORE ASKING ME WHAT I NEEDED DONE.

ok, so I have had the fuel injectors cleaned, fuel filter changed, the converter is fine and not clogged. I have had the clutch/tranny and alternator checked out by 3 different mechanics, and they all say it is fine. There is no oil or water in the gas. I have no ideas and honestly, Im about ready to drive out to the country and just set it on fire. I have put over 4 grand into this P.O.S. over the past year to keep it running, and it seems like everytime I get one thing fixed, something else breaks within the week. Its almost like someone is playing a sick and twisted joke on me.

PepBoys asked me an odd question yesterday when they were looking at this beast. They said that I was using copper spark plugs......struck me as odd because I know for a fact that I put platinum plugs in, because that is what the manual says to do. I could be wrong, but I am almost 100% positive I put in AC DELCO platinum plugs 30k miles ago because I remember making some stupid joke to my friend that was helping me change the plugs about how soon hip-hop artists will do anything for platinum. BUT, just in case I am a moron, would that cause my problem and if so, why would it not give me this problem all along? I dont trust pepboys to begin with, so I honestly just think they were trying to screw me out of more money because no one there seems to care that they cant figure out what my problem is. But they have no problems with telling me "we have no idea...that will be $100 bucks".....pricks.

Anyone please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im honestly willing to give a reward to someone that helps me figure out WTF this problem could be. Im tired of throwing money at shoddy mechanics to figure out what the problem is all for them to tell me "we cant find anything". The codes are still exactly the same as they were the last time I posted this.

I am going to take it for a tune-up on Wednesday because everythign is closed on the 4th, and if I cant fix it or at least diagnose the problem soon, it is going to be turned into an inferno somewhere along I-10 by the end of the month.

HAVE YOU CHECKED YOUR FLEX PLATE? I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND WENT THROUGH 3 FLEXPLATES, BEFORE I FOUND THE MOTOR MOUNT PROBLEM. ALSO CHECK YOUR SHAFT BEARINGS. THEY MIGHT BE MISSING A FEW BALLS. AND IF THAT'S NOT THE PROBLEM, I GOT A COUPLE UNEXPLODED GRENADES FROM TEKRIT YOU COULD THROW IN THERE BEFORE YOU LIGHT IT UP. AND A LOT OF MECHANICS CAN DO A QUICK ONCE OVER AND STILL MISS SOME CRACKS DOWN BY THE CRANKSHAFT

Re: 2000 s-10 problems please help!!!!

If the engine is free-revving under power without anyone touching the clutch pedal then it is probably a worn out clutch. 80k miles doesn't help the clutch either. Replace the clutch and go from there.
