can someone help with this problem. can't open the hood, what should i do help

Welcome to AF on your first post Chevymen.
Well if the engine is on fire call 911 for help {Just kidding }but otherwise.
A tip to get a good answer to your problem is to let people know what year make and model and engine and stuff like that.
And decribe your problem the best you can.
On the hood not opening is the release cabel or release handel broke or is the latch just stuck?
If all else fails Sometimes a good hand powered whack on the top of hood helps?
Hit us with all of the info you have on it and maybe someone can help you out.

thanks mt, let me try again. i have a 1993 k1500 silverado 4x4 w/350 automatic. my hood latch is stuck. my son pulled on the handle with no luck.

if the cable is broken somewhere out under the hood you're in for some fun. If the cable is broken under the dash or right around the handle you might could grab it with a pair of vise-grips and be able to release the hood.

It might be best to head on down to the body shop and get them to replace the cable.

I would check under the dash and around the handle to see if you can tell where the cable is broken....Assuming its the cable and not the latch?

Either way it sounds as if you need to either have the cable replaced or the hood latch fixed.

If just stuck beat and tap on hood and even pry a little under hood and hit it with PB blaster. And with luck you can jar it lose.
Other wise like said find out where cabel is brok and work from there.
Some you can get a screw driver or hook in there and pop it.
Look from underneath and threw the grille and see if you can see the latch release.
Anb if you get it popped maked sure you keep it lubercated good to gaurd against futher problems.

I had a 92 1500 and the cable came off of the prongs in the release lever, because a car washer got very enthusiastic. i doubt the cable broke , it is probably dislodged from the release handle or form the under hood latch. like the guy before me said take a look by the release handle and spot the cable hanging by itself,, GL
