Cost of a Good C4?

Right now I'm planning on buying an LT1/T56 Firebird but recently I'm wrapping my mind around the C4 vettes. I'm seeing better handling, looks, even power, and the overall agility.

My question is can I afford a good C4 for under 10k and what condition will it be in? I've got no time for a project car anymore. I'm also interested in how much more insurance I'll be paying than for the LT1 Vette compared to an LT1 F-body (probably just liability) and red.

Re: Cost of a Good C4?

You can absolutely get a good non-project lt1 vette for under 10k. I recently bought a '92 lt1 that the previous owner had completely restored, new paint, all interior, many mechanical parts, new zr1 chrome wheels, etc. for about 8000 on ebay. The only negative was that it had about 140k miles, but it runs great.

As far as insurance, i wouldn't think it would cost any more at all for a corvette than a v8 camaro for LIABILITY. They are both considered high performance, so it shouldn't matter at all. And i know that i used to hear all the time that the color of the car mattered w/insurance...but all i can say is that if your car being red makes your insurance higher, you have the worst insurance company in the world! I've had liability coverage on a corvette since i was 16 through a couple different companies, and they've never even asked the color. (I pay about $325 every 6 months for liability on my 92 vette) (and i'm 21)

Thanks a lot, that's exactly what I needed to know.

Re: Cost of a Good C4?

I have an 85 and we paid $5,600 for the car in great condition. (considering it's 20 years old) We've put about $2,000 into it. We got a glass targa, new speakers, Flowmaster exhaust, new door panels, new steering wheel, and replaced the window ribbon.
