I just got a 96 eclipse and I want the works, What should I do first?Eclipse9677 07-28-2002, 09:50 PM hay, I just got a 96 eclipse and I want everything done to it body kit, sterio system, rims, decals, what should I start with and where would I get it?HELP!!!! CAptynCrunch 07-29-2002, 12:28 AM Ok, you most certainly do need help. Lets see, Bodykit: Waste of money. Makes the car heavier and therefore slower, absolutely no point to it. Stereo: Waste of money. Makes car heavier and therefore slower, plus it forces others to listen to(at least the bass) of whatever crappy music your listening to. Again, no point to it. Rims: Good idea, if you buy non-flashy, lightweight ones that aren't too big. Otherwise they add to much rotational mass to the wheels and again, make the car slower. Absolutely no point unless you get the right ones. Decals: Waste of money. They're ugly, they do nothing to make the car faster, they show people how ricey your car is, and theres no point to putting a sticker on your car if you don't actually have the parts the sticker represents. What should you start with? how about telling us what model of car you have so that we car tell you what would actually make it faster. Oh yeah, and if you own a copy of the fast and the furious, burn it.(i don't mean make an illegal copy of it, i mean light it on fire.) and if you've ever seen the movie, forget every part of it, cause it's absolute trash and nothing in it was real.(well, you don't have to forget the chick that played dom's girlfriend, she was pretty fine...) crunchymilk49 07-29-2002, 02:03 AM yeah upgrade the engine first, and i think a stereo is fine if its not overdone two 12's and an amp really dont weigh it down TOO much NSX-R-SSJ20K 07-29-2002, 09:05 AM captyn crunch i don't think he is going for speed i think he is going for looks as well which is fine by me rims, suspension then engine exhaust then bodykit then Sound System thats how i'd do it pure_restricted 07-29-2002, 09:56 AM yo Eclipse, if u wanna make the car LOOK good, thats totally cool...but make sure that u save some money for the engine. dbartoschek 07-29-2002, 02:19 PM Originally posted by NSX-R-SSJ20K captyn crunch i don't think he is going for speed i think he is going for looks as well which is fine by me rims, suspension then engine exhaust then bodykit then Sound System thats how i'd do it See i'd do it in a totally different order................... Exhaust then sound system then rims, suspension, then body kit.............but first of all.....some small engine mods....like intake, k & n filters (not really a mod), headers, etc... SilverLotus340R 07-29-2002, 07:52 PM i'd go easy engine mods (filters , intake etc) exhaust rims suspension sound body kit TatII 07-30-2002, 11:55 PM if i owned a eclipse. what would i do? well sound system is a definite. rims i would get nothing bigger then 17's. larger rims might slow you down on aceleration. but larger rims helps prevent tire side wall flexing sooo you can corner better and brake better, which is something that most demonstics people don't understand. but i see where your gettin at. what i would do is basically some basic bolt on's. then upgrade the ecu. and maybe some hotter cam shafts. eclipse_99rs 08-03-2002, 06:01 PM go to www.2gnt.com for all your eclipse needs. Believe me every one on 2gnt is nice and willing to help you upgrading your eclipse. hope i helped. jake Skypatcorbin 08-04-2002, 03:14 PM wow.....no one said anything about turbo... i thought this was a racing forum, not how to rice out your car 101. Grendel 08-04-2002, 03:32 PM Is your Eclipse a GS-T or GSX model? If not, forget speed, its kinda pointless to waste all that money on intake/headers/exhaust/etc when it really isnt going to make that big of a difference in speed... If I had an Eclipse (non turbo one anyways), here is what I would do... Slam It Get Rims Get a Semi-Wild Bodykit No Wing, No Stickers, No Fart Pipe It will still be slow, but it will look ok, and get attention from the girls :P -Grendel -The Stig- 08-04-2002, 03:52 PM Originally posted by TatII but larger rims helps prevent tire side wall flexing sooo you can corner better and brake better, which is something that most demonstics people don't understand. so, just because we drive domestic cars... we automatically dont understand the benifits of low profile tires? haha ok! NSX-R-SSJ20K 08-05-2002, 06:35 AM Originally posted by RedNeck383 so, just because we drive domestic cars... we automatically dont understand the benifits of low profile tires? haha ok! well someone else said big rims low profiles are useless .......... and he was a domestic owner ........ i wouldn't say all....... gto_merah 08-10-2002, 01:18 PM Unless your Eclipse is a turbo model (GST or GSX), forget engine mods PERIOD. Synthetic fluids and on-time general maintenance will help keep your car in shape and on the road. (Do I sound like a personal trainer or what? Geez!) Here's what I'd do, in order: [1] Rims (18s or 19s), [2] slam it, get quality coilvers not the cheapo stuff, [3] suspensions mods to correct your front and rear alignment because you dropped your car too low. Polygon 08-10-2002, 04:47 PM Why not, you can still make an N/A car move down the track pretty quick, yes even fourbangers. Here is my question, is the engine in the N/A DSMs the same as the F/I engines minus the turbo? If so then I would say get and after market turbo, intercooler, boost controller, fuel regulator, and up that boot to about 19 or 20PSI. ServingUpSumRice 08-12-2002, 08:29 AM dont need a body kit(ur not fast and the furious). dont need a system if u want speed. dont get 18 cuz u cant race on big rims. all u need is TURBO!!!TURBO!!!TURBO..or u can get an engine swap. i think u can get an EVO engine is there... Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
