For my first car I want to get a Neon with the 5 spd manual in it, I'd really like the 98 Neon r/t but can't find one around here, any suggestions on to what year and make i should get, i'm looking to mod it up a lot and put a body kit and that on it.

Your best bet is to get a 97 or newer. The 95/96 models had more issues with the electrical system. Also all models before 99 (or any models released before 11/98) had an issue with headgaskets leaking. For awhile Chysler was covering it with a warranty. So if you are buying from a private party make sure to ask if they replaced the HG with the MLS gasket (multi-layer steel). I have a 98 motor (got it with 400 miles) in my 97 and my HG just started going at 46,000 miles. My 97 HG went at 65,000.

Also if you are looking for performance, try to get an ACR model....telltale sign of an ACR is it has the sport bumper but WITHOUT fog lites. Car has pretty much no power options, but does have adjustable dampening on the struts. If you would rather have the bells n whistles, like power windows, locks, mirrors...go with the "Sport" model.
