I am looking for information on the reliability of the latest small-block GM engines, as I am considering a used 2000 4x4 with one. I believe it is a resurrection of the old 283 CI. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I have the 4.8L engine in my truck. It is a 293 cubic inch--270hp--285#0f torque.I can't say anything about the reliabiliy because it only has 10,000 miles on it.I do know that GM has had some problems with this and the 5.3L knocking when they are cold(mine dosen't do this)and idling rough(mine has this problem).
