I have a 2005 CRV and only one key w/remote and chip build in, I'am looking to get second key, try dealers but they want big bucks!!, so I turn to ebay, find few, but they tell me Fob and chip need to be programmed first, and say this is a good place to check for any help...

If you're trying to buy a key on ebay make sure it hasn't been cut yet or it's no use to you.

Yes, you need to have the key programmed at a Honda dealer. Expect to pay about 1/2 hour labor charge for this procedure. If the key is not programmed it will still unlock doors; but it won't start the engine.
