fuel pump - ish ???

Happy Friday !!!!,
just looking for some expert opinions, my 2000 GP GT with the 3800 engin, was giving me a little "hesitation" when i would put the gas down while pulling on to the highway. Yesterday i pulled into the driveway turned thwe car off, 2min lator when to turn the car back on and it won't fire.. turns over realy realy easy, is there some simple things i can do to check with out removing my tank??? Thanks A lot for any help

You can check fuel presure at the Schrader valve on the front rail. Located with fuel pressure regulator. This will check fuel pump, lines, filter and FPR.

48 - 55 psi.

Use an automotive fuel pressure tester.

BTW - If fuel pump is bad you DO NOT need to remove the fuel tank. There is an access cover behind the rear passenger seat in the trunk.

Follow Bob's suggestion and test fuel pressure at the rail. If you do end up having to change the fuel pump, you don't have to drop the tank. There is an access door in the trunk (retained by 7 screws) up by the rear seatback that is used to change the fuel pump without dropping the tank.

Actually, the access cover is held down by 7 cheap nuts. The bolts are imbedded in the trunk floor facing up. Do not overtorque upon completion of installation. Make sure the big o-ring seal sealing the fuel pump pod is good to include the seal for the access cover because you will smell gas fumes after the install or get evaporative emissions fault codes. The fuel pump pod is secured into the tank with a big c-clip which is easy to get off without using special tools like snap ring pliers. The fuel pressure and return lines and the one evpaorative emissions line are quick disconnects like at the fuel filter. Plus there are two electrical connectors. One for the fuel pump and level sensor and one for the fuel tank pressure sensor.

It will be dirty so use a shop vac to clean before removing the pod if it turns out to be a fuel pump problem. Good luck!
