Angry won't start

i have a 2001 s-10 with 4.3 that acts like it is in gear when you turn the key to start it .
after messing with it a while it starts like nothing is wrong .
would it be a sensor like a heat sensor saying its to hot or oil sensor thinking there is not enough oil or what.

Re: won't start

alarm???? could be a starter disable problem with your alarm.

what are you doing to it when you say "messing with it"?

Re: won't start

make sure your park switch is adjusted correctly. the next time this happens give your gear selector a good tap into park to make sure it hit the park switch. also try starting it in nuetral when it happens and see if there is a change.

Re: won't start

I tried puling it out of park and putting it back in. I also tried it in neutral nothing seems to work. thats why I thought it mite be a sensor of some kind. otherwise it must be the Ignition switch. And messing with the airbag is something I don't want to tackle.

Re: won't start

i would have to say a possible ignition switch failure if you dont have an alarm with a starter disable function.
