Post 78 d-100 gas tanks

Hi there, I cannot seem to fix the crack in my 78 d100 tank. I've tried plastic welding, epoxy paste & cloth, and nothing works. Was the 78 only equipped with the plastic tank or was a metal on optional?

Re: 78 d-100 gas tanks

You may be able to find an aftermarket metal tank, or use a new one from a different year of van. These vehicles were made for many years, mostly unchanged. I am not sure, but I would suspect a tank from another year may fit.

Many small vehicles have plastic tanks, such as off road motorcycles, ski doos, etc. Gas residue penetrates the plastic and prevents adhesives from sticking to it. This is why most dirt bikes never have the original decals on the tank. They usually fall off within a few days of the first fill-up.
