Exclamation 84 vette won't start

Hopefully someone can help me with this. I'm trying to get my aunts 84 vette started after sitting for some time. Unfortunetly prior to it being parked we don't not know if there was anything wrong with the car. When i turn the key the car will not start, except for a rare occasion it will turn over, for a brief few seconds, where it will run then choke out and die. Upon examining the car I figured out that only one injector are firing into the throttle body. the other one doesn't seem to be doing anything. Is there anyway i can clean it out without taking it apart? If i do have to take it apart, how complicated is it for someone who has never done something like this before? Also is there a way to check if it's receiving power? Any input on this is greatly appreciated....

Re: 84 vette won't start

Check fuel pressure. I just this week repaired one (an '84/L83) with a bad pulsation damper in the tank. Pressure was at times as high as 4 PSIG. One injector fired almost normally (right TBI) and the left injector just dribbled - Ran like crap. It would try to run, but only for a few seconds at a time and very poorly.

Fortunately, the fuel pressure can be tested easily with an adapter at the right/front TBI unit or at the filter behind the RF wheel opening along the frame rail.

Look familiar?

Re: 84 vette won't start

thanks for the response... the picture looks all to familar. I decided to take the it apart until i figured it out well it ended up being the injector was clogged. I attempted to clean it out, which worked for a mere 30 seconds before being massively clogged up again. it's the front TBI unit that's clogged so once i get a new injector I'll see if that works... if not I'll be back with more questions! Thanks again
