2003 tranny/drivetrain click?

Today on my way home I started hearing a click when I went from 1k RPM's to 2k RPM's. I can make it happen everytime by just going 15 MPH or so in drive and just give it a little punch. Same noise when taking off the gas. Almost like the driveline U joints or something making a little faint click? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: 2003 tranny/drivetrain click?

I dont know what your milage is but i would have somone pull the ujoints they tend to just sieze up on these trucks instead if getting loose like old vehicles. When mine went at like 40-50 k it just made a little sqeak here and there and did not vibrate like you would expect. every time i would get under the truck i would shake that drive shaft and think well its tight so it must be ok. It wasnt and i finally just decided to pull the drive line and wvala the joint was seized up and had been for a while. it didnt even hae any needle barring in one of the caps and half the joint shaft was gone but that drive shaft never giot loose..jj

Re: 2003 tranny/drivetrain click?

my truck does something similiar. i have the 8.1 liter allison set up.. when i stop at a light i hear and feel a click sounds like right under the floor board and it does the same thing when i take off from a stop.. my u joints are new, i replaced them because they were squeaking but i had this click also.. i climbed under the truck today and pushed up and down on the driveshaft were it goes into the transfer case and there is a clicking noise internally inside the tail area of the case. i am going to take it to my friends trans shop monday or tues for him to look at it and i will post what the problem is as soon as i find out
