180sx??rice(er) 05-10-2006, 09:19 PM can someone tell me about the 180sx?? seems like there's limited info on it, i dont think AF even has a section for it, do they?.....how rare is it to find a 180sx here in the states?? were they even imported to the US?? they have the same engine as the 240?? thanks MetalHeadZaid 05-10-2006, 10:17 PM this is the secton for the 180sx (180sx, silvia and 240sx ride on the same chassis. excluding the engines and bodys, are basically the same cars) the 180sx has the same body as the early model 240sx. the 240sx has a 2.4 dohc engine (ka24de) and the 180sx was available with 1.8 liter turbo (ca18det) and 2.0 liter turbo (sr20det) dohc engines. i have heard but cannot confirm that later model 180s had the 54C version of the sr20, which has a beefed up bottom end if im not mistaken. if you wanted the equiv of a 180sx in the US, you would have to buy an early model hatch (up untill 1993 i think) and swap in either of the engines, (sr20det would most likely be your best choice) although you could simply turbo the ka24de and make serious power. importing a 180sx is nowhere near practical (if possible) rice(er) 05-11-2006, 01:08 AM so you're saying the 180sx was never imported to the united states? i ask this because i swear.......i saw a 180sx at a junk yard, everything stock, didn't look like it was modded at all or anything, it had the pop-up headlights and i believe it said 180sx at the back Hit_N_Run-player 05-11-2006, 01:38 AM i doubt it. Im almost 100% doubting it. I just found my first SX at a junkyard the other day, let alone a real 180. It could have been a new year light or something. Was it turbo? Was it RHD? What engine? I doubt you'll ever see a real 180 in a junkyard in the states. 89'SIL-40 05-11-2006, 09:57 AM Me too, i highly doubt that you saw a 180 from japan in the scrap yard.Who the hell would just scrap a 180sx?Even if it was wrecked, nobody would be stupid enough to scrap it without parting it out!.....you probably have a better chance to win the lottery, then find a 180 in the scrap! %100 sure it was a 240. AWDSR20 05-11-2006, 04:14 PM maybe some JDm ricer crashed and th "180sx" is now in the junk yard? 89'SIL-40 05-11-2006, 04:24 PM YA, the guy probably just changed the center piece in the taillights!lol.....god damn ricers!
