what is the difference between a dual and single port engine. i know the dual has more torque but what is the major difference in the build up. they look the same

a single port motor will last longer but it doesnt have the power of a dual port.

Single port engines means that there is a single port in the head that splits to feed the intakes of the cylinders.

Dual port has 2 ports in the head. One to feed each cylinder.

Better air flow means better horsepower, better torque, and a cooler running engine.

thanks guys.. so i have a 1641 dual port engine with dual carbs.. what do yu think my hp and torque will be?? is this a decently quick setup?

HP and torque depend on a number of factors, not just the engine size and design.

What carb, exhaust, etc. your running. Even things like spark plugs, wires and distributor will affect the engine output.

The 1641 is a popular mod to push a few more ponys, however that comes with a thinner cylinder wall. Essentially they take 1600 jugs and bore them out to increase displacement. The thinner walls are more prone to warpage.

Keep that in mind when running in high temperatures.

That being said, depending on the variables of carb, exhaust, stroke, ignition, etc, the 1641 should put out somewhere between 50 and 60 HP.

i have dual 40mm kadrons.. and they are jetted for a 1700cc engine.. as for the exhaust its a merged header without the heater boxes and it has a empi muffler.. unsure what kind
