3.0 or 4.0 Engine?

This may be a dumb question, but I'm a little confused about which engine is in my '94 Ranger which was purchased used by my daughter.

The VIN and sticker under the hood says it's a 3.0. But, everytime I get parts and look at the diagrams in the owners manual, it appears to be a 4.0.

Hopefully the engine picture will come across on my little web site at:

http://geocities.com/jw_cullen/cars.htm

Dip stick is on the drivers side, oil fil cap in on the passengers side, of the engine compartment.

looks like a 3.0 . If you look at the white sticker on the frame/ hood it will say something like "this vehicle conforms to bla bla bla!" and will have the engine size posted there too, but my is on the 3.0

Re: 3.0 or 4.0 Engine?

Your right, it's a 3.0. The truck is in the shop for a clutch job. They just called and said although the body is a '94, the engine and transmission is a '95. Just my luck the price of a '95 clutch is much higher than the price of a '94 clutch. It figures...
