Did the dealership mess up something ?JCL82 05-06-2006, 04:15 AM Well, Monday(only took 1 hour) i finally got my truck to the dealer to fix the abs recall after awhile. Anyhow , they didn't change the sensor , because it wasn't bad. Even though i told them they fix that problem 1 months before the recall because of me almost hitting cars.Heck they probably issue the recalled after they seen my sensor, because that thing would just go after no matter what . So anyways I'm driving it and it feels like it's pulling to the right, actually I'm pretty sure it is, plus the steering use to be alot tighter, So my question is. How can i prove the dealership did do something. However i know i do have 100,000 miles , they will probably say i need to get a wheel balance. So does anyone know what they pull off the truck to check the ABSsensor and is it possible to mess up the steering tightness and could it throw the wheel balance off ? Do you think they could have switch up the front tires and put the right one on the left and vice versa ? Which i think will make it pull to one side of the road right ? Also one more thing about the tighter steering, it could be the same and i'm just not use to keep bringing it to the left. maxwedge 05-06-2006, 08:55 AM Access to the abs sensor doesn't require any issue with the steering, yes they could have somehow switched ft tires, but unlikely. JCL82 05-06-2006, 12:41 PM Do you know how they get the access to the sensor ? Like what stuff do they take off to get to the sensor ? Anyhow i do need get new tires so i'll probably just a wheel balance somewhere. What the prices the dealership charges for that (wheel balance ) silverado122775 05-11-2006, 11:09 AM The sensor is the under the hood. they do not have to remove any tires or brakes to replace that sensor. jumpingjack66 05-14-2006, 02:06 AM The sensor is the under the hood. they do not have to remove any tires or brakes to replace that sensor. I have to disagree. The wheel speed sensors are on the back side of your front/and rear i guess? hubs or spindals( depending on 2 or four wheel drive). These sensors are the cause of the recall issue due to corosion getting in between the sensor and the tone ring that tells the computer the wheels are lockedd and activates the abs pump. This tone ring is not the issue so they only have to remove your front tires to check the sensors., by checking voltage or resistance or somthing. Any way if they had switched your front tires accidently that would not cause a problem unless your using directional tires . Why? Since like 1985 the clamshell molds that are now used to make tires have fixed the issue of changing direction of rotation on radials and causing beltsd to break in the tire. Myt owners manual even recomends with a fine picture of how to rotate tire by switching sides for the rears every time instead of just the front to back. It even states the directional exception i mentiioned. When my recall wasdone a couple monthes agoi got lucky and the sensor actually broke off in the hub, so i recieved a new hub free of charge but they refused to do anything to the other side ...jj Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
