anit-theft override in 97

I just bought a used 97 and my dad fiddled with the battery and the anti-theft device has stopped us from starting the car. We did not get a manual with this car, does anyone know how to override it?

I had the same problem with mine after replacing the speedometer cluster; what you have to do is: try to start the car. after it stalls,(LEAVE THE IGNITION IN THE "ON" POSITION) wait for about 10 min. until the theft system light stops blinking/turns off, then try to start the car again, it should start. I got this advice from a friend of mine who works at a Chevy dealership. Good luck!
