PCV valve hose

My friend has been told he needs this hose replaced according to the OBDC computer at the local dealer. He has an 02 Ranger with a V6 (not sure what size). I always thought the PCV valve was found atop a valve cover. I couldn't find it though. Can anyone tell me where I can find the PCV valve and what hose the dealer is talking about?

Re: PCV valve hose

I was working on a '90 2.9 v6 the other day. I think I remember the PCV valve being toward the rear of engine (this engine has a distributor at the very rear) and mounted on the RH side of the lower intake manifold... I'm sure it accesses the short block tho located on the manifold casting. The hose routes up to the upper intake near throttle body.

Hope this helps. Don't know what your engine arrangement is. Photos on AutoZone.com may show your engine layout.
