Drip Trim Opinions?

Well, I have my 74 Road Runner coming in and was wondering everyones thoughts on this matter. The car has been sitting around for a couple years now but still cranks and runs like a champ, she just needs rust removed and some TLC. Well the drip trim on the driver side has rusted some near the back of the trim and is basically just hanging there, I was thinking about cutting the trim off and just smoothing it to give it a stream line and smooth look. Opinions, thoughts? If not removal what do you think would be the best to repair the problem?
