Question Chrysler Trac

I purchased a 1997 Town and Country with no owners manual. It has a button on the dash named 'Trac'. What is it? I seem to get better gas mileage with it off.

I would appreciate any info.

Re: Chrysler Trac

Traction control.
I shouldn't effect mileage at all. It only kicks in if you are taking off so fast that the tires start to spin. TC applies the brake to the tire that is spinning and reduces engine power until the spinning is under control. TC automatically disengages when you reach about 35mph (as if a the minivan had enough power to spin it's tires while moving faster than 35).
