Two fault codes,PO743 and PO 443.First is the torque converter electrical circuit and the later is the EVAP control valve circuit.I'm looking for anyone who has experienced the repair of these two problems.I believe that testing for continuity at each component will help to determine if the component has failed.The EVAP valve is acessable, but I would like to know if the TCC solenoid is acessable once the pan and filter have been removed from the tranny?I'm hoping that it will be just the component,but if in the wiring,it will be a greater challenge.Thanks for any help.

TCC solinoid is in the side pan which is a lille tricky to remove in the car. You should be able to test it through the connector although.

Thanks for the reply.I hope to tackle this problem today.The Evap problem is a real stickler.I have found some info pointing towards the vehicle computer to be the problem.Help with this would be appreciated.

Hi, You need a FORD transmission tester to properly diagnose the TCC solenoid. Along with the transmission diagnosis flow chart..Good luck..Clay..

After a lengthy battle the conclusion has convinced me that the computer is at fault.Test drove the vehicle and shifted just fine.The torque converter even locked.It appears that the fault codes are bogus.

Hi, chuck's, Here's the deal, The codes posted by your ECM are not HARD fault codes, They can be erased, BUT will return, Your ECM will read and store the intermittent codes for about five times and then will post the codes again. If they do NOT return, consider yourself lucky...GOOD LUCK...Clay..

I guess I can consider that I'm unlucky.I can clear the codes and after five seconds after I have restarted the engine the second time,the check engine lite comes on and the same codes are logged.Is there something special with Ford that these codes will not disappear???

Hi, chuck's....No nothing special, You do have a problem in the TCC and EVAP circuit, Time to get a factory flow chart and tackle the job, Even if the vehicle is operating properly at the present time, The problems are considerd intermittent, But should be addressed as they will be a constant problem in the future...Good Luck, Clsy...
