LS Gauge Cluster in a Base?

I was wondering if a gauge cluster from a LS Impala w/Tach would connect and work in place of my Base Impala Gauge Cluster wo/Tach?

Re: LS Gauge Cluster in a Base?

yes, but I beleice that they are not complete compatible.

I think 00 are by themselvse, then 01-03's can be swapped, then 04-05 can be swapped, but I may be mistaken on the last 2. but if you have an 00, you have to use a 00 cluster.

Re: LS Gauge Cluster in a Base?

I have a 2005 base, I do not know the year that this other one came out of... I know the part # is 09379441 and that it has the tach which mine doesn't, I would really like to buy it but I would obviously want it to work if I did.

Re: LS Gauge Cluster in a Base?

well, he's lying to you because he doesnt want to look up anything adn he's being lazy, or he just doesnt know what he's talking about.

Many people have swapped in a LS cluster into their base model, some have even put a SS cluster into their base (some features wont work with the 3.4)

but a normal LS clister WILL work in a base.

i'll try to find more info for you to show you that i'm not just making this shit up.

Re: LS Gauge Cluster in a Base?

So the Tach would work if I plugged this cluster in place of my base 3.4 cluster?

Re: LS Gauge Cluster in a Base?

yes, it will work. and I just found some info and can correct myself...

00 can only work with 00

01-05 can be swapped with 01-05.

you can put a LS cluster in your base, and everything will work, but I still don't know if that part number you have is good, it doesnt come up with anything on any searches. Do you have a link to the ebay auction?

The only time YOU will run into a cluster swap problem, is when you try to put a Impala/Monte SS/Sport cluster in your base model. That is for 1 reason... the motor.

you have the 3400, and the SS?Sport clusters have an oil pressure gauge, which your car does not provide info for, so that gauge wouldnt work, but everything else would.

To just make it easy... yes, as long as the cluster your getting is from a 01-05 Impala or Monte, it will plug right in, and it will work.

But remember, you will have to send it out somewhere, or take it to the dealership to have the milage re-programmed, so it matches what is currently on your car.
