95 Escort Transmission TX to TJbig_dave04 04-26-2006, 10:43 AM I'm replacing the transmission in my 95 1.9 AUto Escort. Apparently there were two different transmissions used that year, the TX and the TJ. TX (which I have) is a 3.55 and the TJ is a 4.03. SOmeone said I can swap them is this true? Black2000Ranger 04-27-2006, 10:39 PM I think so.. I hope so My 96 has the TX as well.. TJ's are cheaper, and have a lower gear ratio. I just blew up my second TX and im going to get a model TJ.. Hopefully someone else can answer.. But I am pretty sure they interchange. -Scott mikecorki 02-26-2010, 06:55 PM I have a 95 Escort wagon with the 1.9 engine also. I need to replace my transmission and the salvage yard needs to know which type I have, so I'm assuming it makes a difference. My problem is I don't know how to figure out which type I have. How did you figure out what transmission you have? Is the info on the door panel?...In the VIN? thanks for any input. Davescort97 03-02-2010, 12:11 AM Transmission type and axle ratio is on the certification label on the left front door post. zzyzzx2 03-10-2010, 09:32 AM It's also marked on the transmission in big letters that are clearly visible if you look in the engine compartment at the appropriate angle. zzyzzx2 03-10-2010, 09:32 AM I'm curious as to which one would give better gas mileage.
