Re: Turbocharge or good old NA power
There is no question in a poll... Non that I can see. I think a supercharger would be cool, I have seen some maros with theml. I think the kind of charger was a vortec supercharger.

thats also something ive been pondering...why does your MPG go down on a heavily modded engine? i mean if you do things like exhaust, intake FI, but dont mess with the gas affecting parts..camshaft i guess, fuel injectors why does it even affect gas effieciency?

Re: Turbocharge or good old NA power
My set-up would cost to much to go turbo right now.
But I would supercharge the hell outta my car if I could afford to.
Maybe some day.
For me...I would get new heads (bigger chambers for lower compression--shoot for 9:1), a D1 ATI ProCharger, and a more boost oriented camshaft.
15 PSI on a 402ci.

Re: Turbocharge or good old NA power
turbo is great, but to really boost a car a good amount you need to drop the compression really low and at really low compression the car isn't as fun to drive.....and at cost, i'd go with NA but thats just me

Re: Turbocharge or good old NA power
a big camshaft is what is going to take your mileage down. But even with large cams ls1's are known to still get great highway mileage. If you go N/A your going to have a big cam and depending on your tune you gas mileage wont be the best. If you go turbo your going to need more fuel to match the increased amount of air which will take your gas mileage out. But with the ls1 you should still get fair gas mileage if you keep your foot out. Only with a good tune though. The ls1's efficiency and computer are responsible for being able to make a lot of power and yet still be good for daily driving. I should be a spokesman for GM or something....

Re: Turbocharge or good old NA power
oh....and I would go n/a now and then leave room(forged motor) for a turbo or supercharger later.

Re: Turbocharge or good old NA power
I'd go with turbo, but it also costs alot of money to do it.. so im still leaning towards N/A.. unless its the only way to get power out of the engine (Like my 3.1 v6)

Re: Turbocharge or good old NA power
there is room. you may have to move some things but there is room. You would have to fab your own headers unless you can find a kit that has the turbo under the hood.

Re: Turbocharge or good old NA power
My only problem with nitrous is that it can mess up your engine.. ive seen some really good engines go boom because they decided nitrous was the next step.. of course it can be used safely when its done right, but there's always that chance..
Not like a turbo couldnt mess up your engine too, but thats different.
