Re: Re: Engine Cover Removal

If people would put in small details like year, make and model..they would get answers.
Safari vans have 2 different ways the engine cover can be removed depending on the year.

Re: Engine Cover Removal

there are 2 large flat head screws on either side of the engine cover towaeds the top, under the dash..you need a screwdrive about 18+ inches long to get it.....along with 2 nuts under the plastic cover on the engine cover itself....its all outlined in the owners book...have fun its a real pain

On my 89 Safari, all I have to do is remove 2 screws from under the hood and unlatch it. Really not that much of a pain once you know what your doin.

they knock off $40. at the garage if they don't have to remove/install the dam thing.. it's not bad if you have the right tools the long screwdriver a must have on this on . and I do admit to cussing while removing the dog house.

had to pull mine off this winter to replace the vac. hose that controls the heat dampers to change from heat to defrost..thats to this forum it was a go to repair.

1st. from inside you have to remove 2 10mm heads screws above and 2 under the globe box, unlatch 2 latches on the floor,
Go to Home depot or Pep boys and buy a 12 dls 3/8"hand speeder and 2; 12" extensions and an spark plug nut, connect them to the screw heads under hood and turn them with your hands to at 300 RPM (5 R.Per second) in two seconds each screw is unscrewed, with the same tool remove extensions and install a 10 mm. nut, and repeat the same with the 10 mm. screw heads, and in less that 2 seconds are out,

Slide the 2 front seats all the way to the back, and with one or 2 screwdrivers 12" long guide the dog house motor cover out, using the screw drives as guides,

Reapeat the procedure to install being carefull not to tight the screw to avoid damages, Y se resolvio el problema!!!
