Jim Wolfe Technologies Pop ChargerDave Griswold 07-17-2002, 03:15 PM Hi, Has anyone looked at the Jim Wolfe Technologies "Pop Charger" as an alternative to the K&N Aircharger on the Xterra? It's selling for about $120, from Jim Wolfe, and looks like a Aircharger minus the heat shielding. My question is, is the heat shielding worth the extra $100+ dollars? Thanks, Dave ChuckH 07-17-2002, 11:13 PM They're not even close. The Pop Charger reuses the factory piping to the engine, whcih includes a couple resonators and a lumpy boot. The K&N entirely replaces all that with nice hoses. Another thing is that the K&N has a place to put in the air temp sensor; the Pop Charger does not. It's pretty much a case of "you get what you pay for." That being said, the heat shield that K&N supplies is a bit of a letdown. It works OK, but they could have done better. I plan to modify mine a bit to better keep out the hot air. The K&N is still a much better and more complete product. BTW, the K&N makes more noise, but it's not bad inside the truck. Thanks for the info. The reason I ask is I saw a Pop Charger on Ebay for $75 right now. I figured with K&N was a better piece, but for sub $100 investment, I just thought the Pop Charger might be something to consider. Dave Efrain Curet 11-09-2002, 01:12 AM :flash: Just for starter I LOVE MY XTERRA,! and I have installed Jim wolf charger and I also had a oval 18 inch, Magnaflow catback, with 2 1/2 inch pipes and it is a world of differnts between my wife's 2001 and my 2002 xterra. When you hit the gas it goes. I went with jim wolf because they are into nissans for a living and K&N his a one fit all. I paid $120 for the pop filter and $170 for my Magnaflow custom catback system istall. I like having two xterra because nothing goes to waste, my wife's 2001 xterra has my old K&N filter Synchro 11-10-2002, 10:46 AM Originally posted by Efrain Curet I went with jim wolf because they are into nissans for a living and K&N his a one fit all. Then you do not know anything about K&N. Also, how do you know jim wolf is "into nissans for a living?" just curious. Efrain Curet 11-12-2002, 10:42 AM I live in california and I also live 30 minutes from K&N I have been there , and my neigbor drives 30 minutes every day to work at K&N. K&N don't have a street legal air charger for the xterra but it is into developement. I also happened to live 1 hours 30 minutes for jim wilf which is located in San Deigo and when you drive into his his place and see wall to wall nissan in his lot including xterras, Frontier, 280Z and 300Z you get the feeling that he Knows want he is doing. Just take I 8, main street exit, head south two blocks, you will see a mossy nissan dealer to your left and then make a right on Mallar, the building numbers are off but you will not miss it. IT IS THE ONE WITH THE NISSANS IN HAS LOT. Do you want to Know where Gibson is locate, it is also in riverside county city of corona Just of I 15, on exit south of HWY 91. EldeBrock has not yet made a shock for the xterra but I will be driving to Torrence next week.:frog: :frog: Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
