Impala SS or P-71 Crown Vic

Hey, Im having some trouble deciding what I want, I cant decide if I want a '96 SS or a 2000+ P-71 crown vic. Ive heard some weird stories about the SS and its Electrical system but I really want the extra power of the LT1. I also heard some people talking about the Eurathane engine mounts drying out. I havent really heard any stories about the P-71 except that you might get some wierd looks from the actuall police, however I am assumiong that lots of the P-71's will have great maintanace records and all the upgrades that come from the factory push it to par with the SS. So..... help me decide

Re: Impala SS or P-71 Crown Vic

I am not sure what year, the crown vic had a trouble with the intake manifold cracking.

Crown Victoria Bad Points:

1. There have been some problems with steering at high speeds on some models that have resulted in the deaths of police officers. These problems are not very consistent, and can vary between cars, which is why Ford hasn't recalled them.

2. There are no really high-performance engine options (like the Chevy LT-1). It's a 4.6L SOHC or nothing.

3. 1996 and later models tend to be a bit sparse in the interior appointments category. The interiors are pretty spartan, and the liberal use of plastic/vinyl panels can result in a lot of creaks and squeaks when you drive.

LOL I didn't want to be the first to say it. I second that about staying away from Fords.

...the Fords are slow, when they run.

I need to know what you guys mean by, the fords are slow, they have lower compression and are only 20 hp down on the SS, the P-71 also has lots of HD upgrades including the suspension.. enlighten me
